Why do game designers bother to add variety and customization to their content? If people smarter than I are going to crunch the numbers and publish an objectively inarguable list of who is best then why provide choice at all?
Agree. However, I feel that far too often people are basing these ideas of what’s viable and what’s not strictly by the numbers. If a precision AI is playing the character sure you can min/max and get close to the theoretical possibilities. Most players, hell most human beings, are nowhere near that level.
