I feel like this sentence might make more sense if it was the other way around.
That’s complete ignorant nonsense. You go back and look at Mario and Zelda’s progression - the art style changes, the mechanics change, the games ushered in the 3D era of action and adventure coming from simple 2D sprites.
I feel like most people not from the US or Europe can easily understand this sentiment. SO MUCH of everything in culture feels like is dropped on the rest of the world, culturally speaking, by the US and Europe.
I mean, from everything we’ve seen from Miyamoto over the years, it makes sense. He’s constantly coming up with new things, for better (Pikmin) and for worse (Star Fox Zero), and he just wouldn’t be happy heading up MMO development.
I AM surprised though, that Nintendo didn’t do their own Nintendo-style take on…

And here we are where Square Enix is JUST getting around to fixing a broken version of Chrono Trigger on PC, SEGA does what SEdon’t and actually IMPROVES on their classic game.
Considering that the additions being promised aren’t some catch-all but are designed uniquely around every game they release, I think that’s okay. There’s real work being put into elevating each game into an experience that goes above and beyond the originals.
Now if they’d just release the 2005 era Sega Ages remakes of Phantasy Star 1 and 2.
