Blizz didn’t shut them down because of ‘so many people’. Blizz shut them down because they were taking money from said people. Its one thing to provide a free server... its another thing to profit from it and Blizz won’t allow any profit that isn’t theirs.

A lot of people’s ‘nostalgia colored glasses’ are very specific as well. They remember the good times they had with their guildmates and friends, sure (that usually makes up the majority of the good if not all of it).
