It seems like they are taking risks, but in a slow, stepwise fashion. They aren’t getting out over their skis, so to speak. More that they are holding the audience’s hand and gradually walking them deeper in to the pool while constantly asking “are you ready to go a little farther?”

Disagree. Eternals still feels like a gamble. So does Shang Chi. It feels like Marvel is taking the lesson of Guardians and going to the next level - can it build an entire phase around heroes that casual fans are unfamiliar with.
