ok, so.. not exactly genre but, really.. this guy could talk his way out of a gunfight and make the other guys think they won..

I think you nailed it with the cover image.
I have no intention of ever reading the book or watching the show- is that accurate? I'm actually curious because that makes me a little more impressed in HBO's choices if so.
Disagree with a few things in the review and think some other things may be going on that weren't suggested.
So what's the deal with the plot in this show? I read that the plot involved the sudden disappearance of 2% of the world population. This does not seem to be enough for a worldwide disaster, there are enough unemployed people to cover for the people who disappeared. There is no viral outbreak. There are no cities…
1.No.
2.Yes.
3.Only if you like Christopher Eccleston.
It's a remarkable accomplishment on the writers' part that they actually made me pity and root for the preachy, hypocritical Christian, because compared to him, all the other characters are either thoroughly unlikeable, irredeemable assholes, or underdeveloped ciphers.
Am I being too much of a simpleton in disliking this show because it refuses to resolve anything? I went in understanding that the disappearance wouldn't be resolved. Ok, fine. I could even appreciate that: it's not a show about the disappearance, but the aftermath. But it just seems as if there's really no…
The only chars I see in this show is Fear and Pain. There is no happiness in this show, and for some people it's a tough road to travel.
gratuitously graphic
Burning Man gets more and more out of control each year.
A buddy of mine won Best Documentary at the Con this year. It is a travesty he didn't make your list. [Maybe not a travesty—but a small, personal tragedy.]

SDCC is starting to resemble E3 during the mid 2000s.
I've been a big fan of Dinklage since Station Agent, and I agree. The ghosts just distracts me. I don't think he mailed his performance in, I think he probably did the best he could without any context to based it from. I hope so, anyhow. But it's bad. If there was an option to disable it, I would.
I felt the Ghost was supposed to sound like that? Like a robot pretending to be human but still monotone? Judging by his range on GoT I think it wouldn't be too difficult for him to do what they were asking. Maybe they were asking exactly what he was giving in the alpha/beta?
Keep in mind that Dinklage has his own schedule to keep to.
You're mocking me and I don't like how it feels :(
As someone mentioned in another thread, The Ghosts sarcastic tone needs to return, the earlier dialogue from the E3 reveal is great.
Overall I loved the Beta, If I was to change something it would be maybe a variation on the likes of the Vanguard missions, they were one of three types, Kill everything, kill everything…
Yay Capaldi.
