Same! I’m picking it back up this afternoon.

Which is really incredible, even in the modern age, if you think about it. How many other women have been in influential, leadership positions (even if mostly symbolic) for so long? I mean, we haven’t even had a female leader in the US. It is incredibly fascinating to me.

Agreed. While I wouldn’t mind learning about the Onassis’ and Bouvier’s (scripted, never reality), I like the depth here, and the struggle, and showing the weight of responsibility rather than focusing on glamour and idealization and leaving the responsibility as a footnote.

hngggg you have awakened a longing that has slumbered for so long

The descriptions of his meals - by his allies - are incredible. Eating that much fast food, already obese, the oldest president, etc. paired with a family history of hereditary Alzheimer’s.. good times.

Are you 12? Or just retarded?

I don’t think Lurch can really effectively insult anyone. The Huckabee gene pool should be studied.

I thought it was shocking.

This is my favorite meme format for 90% of conservative issues.

AMEN AMEN AMEN. (I’m not religious, but this seemed appropriate). If you want to talk about shitholes, look at most red states.

He’s old and obese. He lives on fast food. He has a family history of hereditary Alzheimer’s. Of course he isn’t in perfect health.

Of course this will resonate with his base. His base is a cesspool - full stop. Most of them would say the same fucking thing.

I only have an account to login here.

I mean, I guess if the weird goth kid in high school held state governments accountable in regard to maintaining the separation of church and state, and not showing special favor to one dominant religion at the exclusion of others? Or you know, actually doing something productive in an attempt to preserve reproductive

Yep. I had a “friend” who was being an asshole to me in public, perhaps unknowingly (different culture, we were playing a game, etc.). I was embarrassed but didn’t want to bring more attention to myself. A guy nearby yelled at him to “chill the fuck out, you’re being an asshole to her” and it stopped. I shouldn’t have

If the behavior is creepy enough for you to ask, intervene. It doesn’t matter if it’s a boyfriend.

You don’t even have to talk to the woman, sometimes it’s enough to yell “hey, back off” to the guy. It’s letting him know that the observers won’t be passive and that you’re not going to be complicit in his behavior.

He wasn’t referring to the risk of not hearing a potential attacker?

Because if you’re with a guy he might pose a physical threat to the creepy man. If you’re alone, you’re vulnerable. If you’re with a weak looking guy and the creepy man thinks he can take him, he might still act on his impulses. It’s not about respecting property.

I think it falls within the same realm of people that don’t believe that their friends can be/are rapists, because they have an image in their mind of what a “rapist” is and couldn’t imagine someone a benign and normal as their friend doing something so heinous (like Lena Dunham’s defense of her pal).
