I am in a very similar situation, although I wasn’t as fit as you when I hit my unemployment shame spiral. I hope your journey has gone well. I’m just starting mine; I’m scared and a wee bit hopeful.

I love Duolingo and tell everyone to get it. That said, it’s not a great system for learning a new language. I use it to keep the Spanish I learned in high school strong, but it doesn’t give you the base you (at least I) need to really get a new language. My Spanish is ok, but I did horribly in French and am really

My checking earns no interest, so I keep $300 there and everything else in savings. I move money over as needed and get notifications when my balance drops below $100. It’s enough to cover small checks/withdrawals I might forget about. Anything I set up online (rent, loan payments etc) I immediately transfer the money

I second Mint. I only have my credit cards loaded in (those feel more secure than straight banking info and 95% of my expenses are credit card), so I enter my cash expenses manually and compare at the end of the month with my withdrawals.

As long as you pay it off in full every month, credit cards are the way to go. If you struggle with your budgeting, stick to cash until you get better- a CC may plunge you into debt and a DC will do the same with overdraft. I use Mint.com to track my credit card purchases but I don’t have my bank linked, so it’s

This only looks at income- no other factors. There is the bit at the bottom about other factor but that’s huge. I am single and live in a high-tax state (both factors that will reduce my money back). My meager $300 back is going to be eaten up and then some.

Depending how much you want to shell out, there are fitness trackers or smart watches that buzz you every so often to remind you to move. I know some fancy models of misfits have that (I have an older, cheaper one).

I was going to say- this is not new information.

THIS. I feel like people who keep this crap going weren’t paying attention or just like being indignant. I was 12 and managed to grasp what happened.

I was 12 when Titanic came out so BELIEVE ME I’ve seen it a thousand times. Rose gets on the board. Jack tries to get on and it flips. Rather than risk both of them dying, he stays off to keep her safe. It’s not about surface area for both their bodies on the board, it’s about pressure being unevenly applied on a
