I’ve been going to the race at Sebring many times since ‘98 and I think it boils down to 3 reasons: tradition, Florida culture, and Spring Break. There’s an entirely different crowd there (NASCAR crowd?) than what you’ll find at a Road America or Lime Rock, plus with the race coinciding with Spring Break, you get a

Subaru Legacy GT (gimme that WRX motor and a 6 speed)

Had a 1:18 scale ML320 when I was a kid that was one of my favorites. Also love the 1st gen ML55 - what a beast.

Spa is probably the closest match as far as similar environment and prestige. But, while I’d love to see money keep rolling in to keep the track alive, I think Sebring is a better choice for manufacturers.

Brand cache is definitely the #1 reason. A lot of buyers just go straight into Toyota or Honda because of reliability, resale value, and a good fit and finish.
