Great road and great photos thanks to not-so-great weather. I’ll make it there one day...

Apparently the first-gen IS F can now be had for under $20k, as long as 100k miles isn’t a problem. A few more grand and you can get them with less mileage.

Easy solution: DPi gets to compete at Le Mans against P2, but DPi allows manufacturer support and all-pro driver lineups, while P2 becomes the “Pro-Am” prototype class.

Saw these beauts back at the Sebring 12 Hour in 1998. The Vector was a quick retirement in the race, but to 8 year old me both of these cars were the epitome of cool. The Panoz at least had some success and would become a favorite of mine in the years ahead.

Definitely agree with you, specifically the 2007 Mercury Mariner which had the chunky license plate frame that seems to match up, and that thin strip of chrome that you can see reflecting the light.

David, I also happen to have a Jeep for sale which may interest you. Ran when parked (in some random box somewhere), good tread on factory Goodyears, former ‘98 loop-de-loop champion with excellent patina.

It’s either a higher-trim Elantra GT prototype or a Turbo model. Carscoops caught one in Germany nearly a year ago: http://www.carscoops.com/2015/08/myster… - I wonder if they’re doing CA emissions testing?

Note to my less savvy, more financially-able doppelganger: Go for the Lusso in brown with tan leather and a manual, or the Abarth in white with the fancy headlights.

Phew - glad I’m not the only one thinking this...

The perfect car for a BMW anorak, complete with a perfectly fitting CP price.

One of the best examples of a filler word in this industry. It’s better than “sporty” though...

You’ve discovered the secret to life: have one decently-reliable car that’s paid off and gets the job done and have the “new car” monies go towards the fun car for weekend adventures (in moderation, of course).

Major unicorn in R trim. Only offered for 1 year and that probably won’t change in the future.

Aren’t these going up in price again? I remember the early 4th gens were going for $13k-$16k years ago, now they’re older, have more mileage, and are still at the same price or (for the good ones) a few thousand more. Good choice.

Is it bad when the design seems like it highlights their lost sponsorship? I mean, the matte finish suits Red Bull’s style, but it’s a little too much like the 2010 Sauber after they lost the BMW sponsorship.

The thing about this is that the argument we want to make: “don’t touch our race cars!” means absolutely nothing to a government organization.

Never thought it would become a thing of the past, but seeing the top prototype teams at Sebring every year before they went to Le Mans was pretty cool. Bentley, Audi, Peugeot - even some strange ones like when TVR had a car in GT2 - I’ve seen a lot of them. Now, top teams only test at the track occasionally.

Looks like about 5 million different midsize sedans...

I’ll give it 1 thumb up. NP as long as it isn’t hiding rust.
