I continue to think of Darkman as the first good superhero movie, though it is of course not Marvel, or from a comic book at all. I remember standing in the theater as the lights came up and announcing "Batman sucks!" I received enthusiastic applause.

Herzog's Cave of Forgotten Dreams is still the best use of 3D I've seen. It rendered that cramped cave and it's astonishing wall drawings far more claustrophobic and beautiful than it could have been on the home screen, and that's 3D or 2D.

Other countries get superheroes? America is no longer exceptional, I guess. Time to push the bomb button?

Couldn't leave you hangin'!

Thanks! I adjust the consistency with a little water if I have to. People seem to eat more of it if I call it a dip and they can spoon it up with salty crispy things. I spread it on sandwiches, as condiment or featured filling. Thicker than mashed taters, not nearly as thick as nut butters. I tried whipping air into

I've perfected a root veggie puree that three different potluck groups have now popped eyes at. Damn tasty blend of roasted celeriac, yellow beets, and parsnips, toned with tahini, citrus, & Herbes de Provence, among other things.

Hunter Thompson, Harold Lloyd, Louis Armstrong, and Blossom Dearie can pull me out of about any suckhole, or at least far enough out to see a little daylight and think about making a sandwich. I think the temporal shift may have something to do with it, because otherwise I regularly binge on contemporary offerings.

a wop bop a loo bop a wap bam boom to you to, Pat.

Cave is insanely effective in it's use of 3D. And the absurdist jokes Herzog drops into it, whether they depend on 3D or not, elevate the experience to a fascinating travelogue surrounded by an irrelevant and fun little circus.
Albino alligators? wth?

I'm right here.

Poke. Salad.

Four Arguments for The Elimination of Television, by Gerry Mander, is still a radical assessment of how TV changes our relationships with the world around us, despite being older than the WWW, which I'm sure Mr Mander would argue also alters our idea of reality in some disconcerting and possibly antidemocratic ways.

Comic STRIP movies!??! Are Nancy and Sluggo about to get the CGI THEY deserve?

That is kindly put.

Over?? This is TV. AND comic books. Watch her get all captured. Or maybe even watch her heartbreak become bitter, which becomes super-something-or-other, which she employs in diabolical revenge on a bad boyfriend.

In fact, hidebound Republican tradition is to nominate the guy (of course it's a guy) who came in second four years before. And that IS Santorum. His failure to grasp the ring with his name on it is one more lead weight tied around the ankles of your father's Republican Party. Which is all the more satisfyingly

Ole Olafson would bring his own jokes.

"picaresque greenery?"

If Balsamo is glad to be out of the game, then why would he act all hostile and irritated with Spencer to begin with? That was a fake out I can't imagine any human basis for.
