Let me tell you, even when you have one, that doesn’t faze them in the least. It goes straight into, “So, are you going to have another one?? You should have another! The first will be lonely!”

I applaud the self knowledge and socially responsible decisions of people who are childless by choice; they are my heroes, because all children should be wanted (and society needs childless adults). But I will attempt to answer your question.

Plus I believe America has been at around a zero growth replacement rate for quite a number of years now. The only reason our population is increasing is because of immigration.

Mother of two here, been doing this for the last 8 years, weathering the recession. I clicked over to Jezebel and read this immediately after receiving an email from the preschool, letting me know that the rates are going up 3% in September for my youngest, who still has 2 years to go in preschool before he is old

I’m a total nosy parker, but I think your husband is right. If you do want a kid, better to see what can be done sooner than later. Science is amazing, and incredible things can happen. Good luck. TTC is such a bitch of a journey.

I wholeheartedly agree. My wife and I have been married for thirteen years and we still have people look at us as though we have a third arm growing out of our foreheads when we tell them that we aren’t having children. This isn’t the Third Reich or Soviet Russia. We aren’t *required* to procreate!

My mother in law keeps pushing the baby issue. We’ve been trying for a year, but it just hasn’t happened. My husband wants us to go to a doctor to get checked out, but I’m scared as fuck they’re going to tell me something is wrong with me.

Organs.

We live in the least violent times in all of history, for one.

I try to remember it is more about the question asker being curious and less about any judgement on my situation, but it is such a rude question! Whether the person being asked is actively trying or not trying to get pregnant, it is very intrusive.

I haven’t been waiting on purpose. It just hasn’t happened yet.

Saberi says she was first diagnosed with end-stage renal failure in 2013

Having been through something somewhat similar, albeit on a much smaller scale, I empathize with the grief and sense of loss these employees are feeling. The fact that the founder is being canonized as the New Feminist while a very non-feminist culture is erupting in her wake is especially disheartening and deserves

I said it before and I’ll say it again: This needs to be a mandatory law for a 6ft x 6ft poster in every room in every church nationwide. Take it down, get shut down because this isn’t a church.

I did not want to have to click through to find out what town this was in, particularly because one of the points made in the article here was about the town’s conservative bent.

No comment on the catty behavior, but I think the clothing line is very trashy.

The “forced to” in the headline is very misleading and competely changes the legal ramifications of the story.

Well maybe the other king is a sovereign in his own right and their crowns have been joined in personal union.

This is very sad. I am a school librarian and I worry all the time that a parent is going to grab a book and get me fired. I wish these people would understand what public school in America is supposed to be about- that we serve all the diverse people in a school. I am so frightened by the big mouths in this country.

WHAT conservative town? Where did this happen? When did it happen? Yeah, I can read it at the link; however if you’re going to aggregate this story, include the basic journalistic “W’s”
