I want to reassure you that you were in the right, but I have some sympathy for the guy. It would have been better to just send him home after deciding you didn’t want sex. From my point of view, he behaved fairly and pretty much the way I would have if I were in his shoes.

Where are the commenters with a healthy measure of skepticism? I feel like the only person who has mixed feelings about this! Everywhere I look, it’s either gross trans phobia or unalloyed gushing.

In all fairness, though, sometimes poor people get invited to a meal they don't have to pay for. We don't have the budget to eat anything but carefully-planned home cooking, but sometimes grandma takes the kids for Chinese dumplings or burgers. And I've often done impromptu potlucks with other families.

Those people are being gracious. My go-to compliment for an ugly baby is “awww, so precious!” Because all babies are precious. You don't have to lie, and it's still a compliment to the parents.

My sister does that for me. I call her “FB Digest”. She texts me screenshots of all the most laughable posts in her feed. We have a few cousins who keep us entertained. I appreciate her diligent work that keeps me off FB.

Nature has a way of making you forget the unpleasantness and the human race continues. And if the idea of giving birth vaginally is that scary to you, you can always opt for a c-section. Don't be scared! It's all worth it, IMO.
