I know firsthand what some of the other ones stand for. Several years ago i was in a rather rough car accident, so i know the markings for Point of Impact, Start of Skid, End of Skid, etc. At least the ones used by the town i was in at the time.

They stayed on the road for almost a year, so on the VERY rare occasions

Heh, statistically she probably wasn’t your teacher. She had the special ed classroom, grades K-2. That was why she got moved around so much - they would move the classroom depending on a variety of factors such as building space, bussing needs, etc etc. But if you were in the school for that long, you certainly

I regret that i have only one star to give.

This might be my favorite comment of all time, on the entire internet.

No way! My mom taught there for decades. She moved around between the other elementary schools for a while (Soo Hill and Lemmer) but worked at Wells until she retired in 1996 ish. My dad taught at NMU and commuted from Gladstone until my brother and i graduated. They live down in Cedar River now, technically, about

Dang, i guess i never did eat there. However, i did live in Harvey for a few years, when i was about 5 until 8. Surrey lane, right off the Highway :)

What restaurant? I grew up in Gladstone and my family lived in and around Marquette as well. I’ve statistically probably eaten there ;)

Yeah, i don’t know who’s pasties you’ve been eating, but a good pastie is one of the best foods on earth.

The nice thing is, if you buy a bunch of pre-made dough and roll it all out, you can make a dozen at a time and customize them all. I love rutabaga, but cooked carrots annoy me. So my pasties are mostly rutabaga

Oooooh you’re killing me! I need a new roof and i still haven’t gotten my car repaired after a plow hit it, but....

ROBORALLY FOR $29! Ahhhhhhhh!

Came here to say the same thing. My stipend as a Chemistry MS/PhD student in 1994-1998 was ~$14K. Modest, yes, but livable. I did take out about $5K in student loans just so i could live semi-comfortably, have car insurance, and buy a computer. But $65K in debt? No way. Someone did the math very, very incorrectly

Pre-cell phone era, this gem of a message was on my BF’s college dorm answering machine:

“Thanks, ASSHOLE. I waited in the rain for FORTY FIVE FUCKING MINUTES. We are so over.”

My go-to after work meal, when i’m too lazy to cook is about 0.5 cups white rice with sushi vinegar, a salmon filet, and nori sheets to eat the entire mess by hand. Very low fiber, lots of carbs, and not particularly healthy. But oh so yummy.

My normal post-practice meal (i get home at 915 pm and am STARVING) is

That’s where i stand. When i have time, a non-hair washing shower is ridiculously fast. But Fridays, for example, i have to leave my 1 pm HIIT class 15 minutes early to make my 2 pm meeting, so even a 2 minute shower is more than i can schedule. I just change my trousers and underpants real quick, wet wipe the

I’ve got a good one.

I bought my house outright, 9 years ago, for $61K. About $20K less than market since it was on foreclosure, and a fixer upper in a neighborhood which has gone downhill since i bought. (Perhaps relevant: a new casino in town might make home values rise, but that’s still a risk.) I’ve done some

Serious question/observation:

Every person who has tried this, either whom i know IRL or online, seems not to be a migraine sufferer. Every migraine sufferer i know who contemplates this diet gets rather panicky at the thought of the migraine we would suffer on the first fasting day. Heck, about twice a year i am too

I have only ever lost non-braided charging cables to one source:

My cat chews them into tiny pieces. None of them survived her ability to find them long enough to die from wear and tear.

I am not in the market for a new cable just now, so i request someone else test the lifetime warranty on a cable that has been

That one nice shirt that i always mean to wear and then don’t.

You left out a potentially very effective degreaser: Conditioner itself. Obviously one lacking in silicones, but the long chain quaternary amines in normal conditioners are excellent at dissolving hydrophobic compounds. It might take 1-2 applications, but it’ll be gentler than shampooing two or three times in a row.

Oh, i look forward to breaking their algorithm!

Day job: process chemist. Attire: BDU pants for durability, and black shirts for semi-disposability, since they get holes after only a few months no matter how careful i am. Fashionableness: 1/10.

Pastime 1: Goth night! Corsets, ripped tights, too much makeup, purple

Ah, see, if you’re in the resale business that makes sense.

But for ordinary household needs like work trousers or workout shoes, i’m okay just relying on my local goodwill. Inertia is a great way to save money, IMHO ;)

*GASP*

I had no idea this was a thing. I generally do about half of my clothes shopping at Goodwill anyway. This is life changing.

(Fortunately, the only thing i currently “need” - new workout sneakers since my current ones are worn flat and have no traction anymore - they don’t have anything in my size. Bullet dodged.)
