Agreed as well. Though as far as sausage go, Brubaker at least knows how to write good female characters and isn’t prone to oversexualization. I’m not saying he’s this great feminist writer or a replacement for any actual woman writer, but he is mature enough to write adult women like adult women (see Velvet for a…
Anyone to stop Timm from trying to canonize Babs and Bruce as a couple again...
This is the best explanation I’ve heard in 40+ years of why any corporation would want to capture one of these. Bravo!
The main reason you’d want to get a hold of a live xenomorph would be to find out how it forms viable hybrids with completely alien life forms. It’s like if you found a snake that could somehow mate with whales and produce hybrid snake-whale beings, except a thousand times harder still since they wouldn’t even have…
Definitely needed a modernizing of the Iron Fist, but I’ll miss Danny, who (even before Aja) was like an earlier version of Aja’s Clint; leading man when he needed to be, but also a natural comedic-relief sidekick to more serious heroes.
It’s a pretty common comic hero look, but I keep thinking he’s Nightwing. Overall, it looks a bit busy.
I’m cool with this. Especially since it seems like a long time coming — Danny has had so many books and adventures and, in universe, even he knew that he was going to give up the Iron Fist eventually. It was supposed to be to Pei, but that’s obviously changed.
Having Iron Fist and martial artists characters only be Asian feels just as racist as making them white.
I’ve always been a fan of making Iron Fist Japanese or Korean, and having the “K’un Lun outsider" angle coming from him not being Chinese. The tension of him not "belonging" is important, but doesn't HAVE to be from him being white.
I’m of Asian descent and I am very much okay with having Asian characters doing martial arts. Maybe because there’s still a dearth of Asian representation in the media to the point my standards are lower than they should be, but it’s still a step in the right direction. But I can’t speak for anyone else, just myself.
Thing is, the Endless can change their appearance as they wish, so anyone proclaiming to be a “fan” of the Sandman books who is annoyed at Death not being a Tori Amos-a-like is an idiot. There’s an entire sub-plot where Morpheus is a black man wooing a black woman, for instance. Not to mention when he’s a cat, either.
Yeah, from seeing her on The Good Place, I think this is a fantastic bit of casting. (As are the others, visually.) She’s going to be perfect in this part.
Exactly that. Death was the casting everyone was going to hate if they couldn’t time travel in a young Winona Rider or whichever secret movie girlfriend would play their secret comics girlfriend.
There’s a gradual move to make stating your pronouns in introductions a standard thing for all people, not just non-binary people. For one thing, it’s not only helpful for Enbies not to be misgendered, but also binary trans and other gender nonconforming folks. Plus, it normalizes the practice if cis people do it too,…
It’s an extremely great habit that the rest of Hollywood should learn from. The reason you see a lot more folks put their pronouns in bios etc is because none of us should assume anyones’ gender. This helps normalize it for everyone.
Unless you assume that every journalist, online commenter, fan, and viewer is going to solely refer to all of these actors by their names, then, yeah, it’s a pretty good idea to let us know the pronouns of the actors. Considering they’ll likely be referred to by the pronouns at least as much as they are by their…
Ok. I’m very much for everyone chosing their own pronouns, but - do we really need to know all of them? The one and only reason to put all the pronouns on that casting sheet is to use the fact that Park is non binary as a promotional tool.
My first reaction to Kirby Howell-Baptiste being cast: YAAAAAAAAAAAY!
I just want to know what the heck happened to Geeta.
