and because, as Yusuf (Mohan Kapur) says, history is “written by the oppressors”
Sexism is when you throw everything away for a man, whereas intersectional feminism is when you throw everything away for someone who isn’t a man.
I realize the New York Times is read and promoted nationally and internationally, but at its core it’s a regional newspaper about and for New York City, which is part of its appeal. It should be centering the experiences of New Yorkers (ALL NYers).
Great name (שקט בבקשה):)
This episode wrecked me. I’m struggling to think of a death that has gotten to me like Jackie’s has. It was so sad, so lonely and devoid of purpose. It was the best bit of manipulation of audience expectation since Psycho. We expect Jackie to play in important role. She was going to be the Antler Queen. Or a leader of…
she plunges a knife into his heart. Adam is dead and theme music plays.
Is she a rich celebrity, or did she just marry a very successful private equity guy and get a taste of that sweet carried interest. Definitely the latter.
See, I had a fairly different reaction to the story of Laura Lee. I’ll preface by saying I’m not an active, church going Christian, though I have read a fair bit of Christian theology. But I regard it, and apply it here, as an element of culture, not the dogma of a true believer.
If anything, an elite high school soccer team at that level would have more than just two gay players.

I’ll watch the whole season despite the story struggling a bit, I still feel they can pull it together when the adult girls lives become more entwined. the characters are all compelling and the actresses are great.
And they’ll add William H. Macy somehow, mark my words.
I’ve loved her since Heavenly Creatures and it took her FOREVER to get her break after, while Winslet pretty much soared straight to stardom. I’m convinced that part of it was Lynskey was so bloody good at playing such an unsettling character and because she wasn’t a conventional Sexy Young Starlet* and so unknown,…
Hopefully! If it proves popular enough.
If the pilot was so amazing, why did they crash? Huh? HUH?
I don’t get how he dropped his shit on the floor and still let them eat it? That’s ridiculous. Whey didn’t the producers step in there?
I would definitely have sent Jurgen home, the fact that he’s done well so far shouldn’t matter, this was easily his worst week. And his first two bakes were worse than Lizze’s, even if they really liked his showstopper.
