You are right and theres two views I think... in the racing world I want to be known as 'Shea, the racer.' In the non motorsport world, 'Shea the female racer' because it immediately separates me from the majority. It's cool being a woman in this industry. You just have to be able to take the heat!

I mean, sex sells right? But hears how I see it... I used to be a water skier and my outfit was a bikini. Now, I'm a racing driver and my outfit is a racing suit. For women, I think they can still be very sexy in a photo shoot wearing the fire suit. Personally, I'd wear the racing suit over the bikini.
I knew that I'd never finish... or it would take forever to finish if I went in for mechanical eng. I started in my teens. Its not a 'disadvantage' but you have to work harder... I'd find mentors in racing to help advance you. That's what I did.
