what we really bring are a handful of very precise and limited strikes from the sky. a fraction of what our forces are actually capable of delivering.

We already know we are better than them. The real issue is who has the balls to actually do what needs to be done? You? Me?
Islam can’t enlighten itself.
Hunting down an idea is pretty easy. Especially when the proponents all gather together multiple times a day.
Not really. Kill them all, let Allah sort them out.
Wait - us doing trade with Europe and the Middle East, leading to Islamic capture and enslavement of our people, demands for payment of protection money, leading to the formation of the United States Navy, is us sticking our noses in it?
Making people scared of harboring or supplying Jihadists can work, but convincing those same people that fighting Jihadists isn’t only in their best interests, but morally right, increases the number of guns you can bring to the fight.
ISIS are the easy ones to find, it’s the smaller groups that would be trouble.
We lost Vietnam (and conflicts since basically) because of TV.
The sooner we have no interests in the region outside of Israel the better. I cannot wait for the day we can tell the Saudis to pound sand
Problem isn’t the “true” believers, those guys are a thankful minority. The trouble is that locals who don’t take to Jihad are willing to harbor/fun them to wage proxy war. Kill enough of those people, rather violently, and they will stop harboring the fighters.
Yes, there are major differences. I just was poking at the “war is never the answer” crowd, when war sure as hell has been the answer many times.
The Nazis were a structural government and a military with an air force, navy, factories, real infrastructure to hit. This right here is like Vietnam, you just can’t bomb them out of existence. We dropped several times more ordinance on Vietnam and Laos that all of WWII and still lost.
Look, we didn’t defeat the Nazis by killing them to the point where they gave up.
not saying we should, but the level of violence required to correct the issue is that damn extreme
There was a note with the second device. The content of it hasn’t been released, but its existence and the fact of no communication from Daesh or any other foreign Islamic group means that your sunflower admission (sunflowers aren’t pansies, right?) that this is something other than domestic terrorism, makes you the…
but murdalizing all of them wont stop anything (hell it will probably provoke sympathizer attacks)
not if you hit them so hard you terrify them into never swinging at you again. of course to do so would be considered multiple war crimes, and likely require the use of nukes once again.
to be clear, im NOT AT ALL…
This is an important question. This headline could mean a lot of things. Mateen in Orlando wasn’t “linked to international terrorism”, except for the part where he carried out a mass murder in solidarity with an international terrorist organization, so how much are we supposed to care about the difference?
Would lone wolf attacks count as “linked to international terrorism?” or is that it’s own seperate little category now?
Are you seriously comparing slave labor conducted by millions imprisoned solely because of from whom they were born, religious beliefs, sexual orientation,... and were underfed and poorly housed with people imprisoned for being found guilty of crimes who do get paid (granted, very little) for the work they do?
