From Futurama, but at least it's obscure: when someone makes an obvious, bad joke that's not getting any reaction I wait a second and say "I get it!" Rarely that gets to be followed up with "Ohh, NOW I get it!"
This episode is a really strange thing for me. The review isn't wrong in that the writers really did betray the goodwill the show had built up with its audience. But on the other hand, every actual JOKE is wonderful and lands 100%. There's so many individual moments that are up there with the show's best:

Having Man-Thing on this show would probably be the best thing that happened to it

What do you mean, not "laugh out loud" funny? This episode had syntax jokes that Simpsons/Futurama in their prime would have been proud of.
