You should try Injustice 2. NRS games are a lot more casual friendly than the other franchises. The “dial-in” combo system makes it great for beginners. Also, the game is a complete package with plenty of content for all types of players, unlike SF5.

We sure have

Xiaoyu’s original goal was to make an amusement park. But as time progressed and she never really won any tournaments(her plan is to make an amusement park IF she won the tournament which she never did), her focus simply shifted to Jin and their family(specifically the feud between them). She’s close friends with Jin

Injustice has an actual comprehensible story. Silly? Sure. But comprehensible.

Tekken 7 is so close i can almist grab it

She’s got fish eyes. Even if the lids, brows and lips move, she still has the same, dead expression on her face. It could also be the lack of movement in her head. She’s threatening Bruce, but yet all she really does to intimidate him is kick an Arkham gate down. She doesn’t sneer, glare, look down on him, shake her

There are still some sounds that facial animators (or rather, the tools they tend to have at their disposal in game projects) have a tough time making look natural. I’m thinking “w” sounds tend to look quite awkward across the board, because they can’t (or don’t) purse the lips correctly.

I don’t see people complaining about The Witcher or Mass Effect 3...

No, its off-putting. The precise and overdone enunciating. The slightly exaggerated facial muscles. It is like watching a stage play. It isn’t natural looking, basically, even if it technically looks impressive.

It feels off because the closer and closer we get to realism the more our brains are going to fight it. When it’s clearly not real then we have no problem accepting it for what it is. But once our brain has to constantly be finding the parts that break the realism we will feel the need to nitpick more and it’ll just

Anytime someone says the only change from last gen to this gen is a resolution bump, I call them a liar.

Not really. This has, what, an hour of dialog? Versus a few hundred hours of dialog? You can spend more time per scene when you only have a few scenes, especially when their are fewer characters in the scene, and it is partitioned off from the rest of the game (being non-interactive, with tweaked lighting and tightly

To be fair, they didn’t have to do anything but cut scenes for this game. Probably a lot lower volume.

Why? the fighting game didnt require 600 hours of animations...

Umm, an hour of footage vs tens of hours of footage... are you willing to pay 300$ and wait 5 more years for ME:A because I know of no other way to have had them hand do all the multitude of interactions and dialog required to get the same level as injustice for every scene

It’s a double edged sword I think. Those animations are simply amazing. Hands down the best I’ve ever seen. BUT holy shit do those characters look unsettling and awkward. The faces stand out apart from everything a bit too much. They look too real while the rest of the characters still look a bit cartoony.

I think it’s a natural thing to come out of fighting games where a considerable amount of attention is given to realistically reproducing human biology (more generally). I think this goes all the way back to early fighting games where they were doing really interesting things (for the time) with 2D sprites.

I think

It’s almost like they took all of the complaints about ugly faces to heart and decided to destroy everyone’s expectations. Kudos to Netherrealm.

It’s too bad the actual character designs are kind of... awful... What on EARTH is going on with Batman’s cowl?
