M83 did Oblivion and was basically forced to sound exactly like Hans Zimmer (which he publicly complained about, and good for him). This has been the issue with most every major "fresh" talent to come into a big studio movie (Roque Baños being the most recent example, and such a shame).

Well, that's probably the issue. Would you remember all the Star Wars themes after one viewing six years ago?

Yeah, The Abyss is great. Bob is wrong.

It wasn't an arrangement of the first Iron Man theme (which was basically the same as the Elfman Spider-Man theme somehow).

The first half of Sky Blue Sky is perfect. The back half, less so.

Tweedy actually commented on this, to some degree, saying that he doesn't want people to think they are taking themselves too seriously, like Radiohead naming their album something poetic like A Moon Shaped Pool (beautiful as that record is, he and I both say).

I get it. I get it.

Thanks, "Dan G." of Hollywood, CA.

The version of "Please Please Please" in the movie is the one that's on this album (allegedly).

See also: every single Letterman interview with her. I didn't "get" her until then, and now not only do I get it, I'm totally in love with her. YouTube it!

That's funny because that's exactly the episode I was talking about. Pete Holmes is obnoxious, but in such a friendly way it doesn't bother me THAT much.

That's funny, because my favorite HDTGM episodes are the live ones (sometimes the guests are annoying, but that's another story).

I was just talking about this THIS MORNING.

Oh, it was just the whiff on Bell Biv Dinesh. It's OK, Happy Noodle Girl. :)

I know how you feel, man. I bought the cassingles for "Unskinny Bop" and "Blaze Of Glory" the same day.

So you still thought "that chain is poison" was funny without actually knowing the reference?

Sierra Madre? I lived there a few years ago (on Lowell Ave!), and the fact that it had been used in so many Carpenter movies (and the original Invasion Of The Body Snatchers) was just the creepiest.

You're smart.

Show your work, Chuck.
