From earlier today:

I cut in half around the pit, then make my slices with the pit intact (basically scoring all the flesh down to the rind), then pop out the slices and pit together. Works like a dream.

I find it much easier to monitor my pace of drinking when out due to the necessity of ordering each drink and that the beverages tend to have a more consistent measurement that more closely resembles one portion.
