Give the kid a normal first name, use the unique name as a middle name. That way the kid can safely get through those younger years and use the middle name if they want to stand out later in life.

I think the confusion on Plan B is warranted:

Most people don’t understand how Plan B works, but they understand that it makes you not be pregnant, and that’s all they need to know.

This. This article comes off as “perfect being the enemy of good”.  I don’t know how Plan B works, but I do know that it works to prevent pregnancies and women should have access to it, full stop.
