I tell a lie; it was the Grammys.
I tell a lie; it was the Grammys.
Not just that, but I loved how that scene (among others) resolidified the bond of love between the Blomquists. After all the talk in previous weeks about Peg being manipulative and planning to leave Ed, it was lovely to see her looking after and sticking up for him.
Did you ever see the Oscar performance of the musical highlights? Really lovely stuff, especially seeing the singers actually singing it.
Well remember last ep., Bear's man said that Hanzee knew where Dodd was, and definitely didn't mention him being dead. We did not see Hanzee on the phone in this one before meeting Ed & Peggy - presumably, now that Ed has summoned Kansas City, he's going to have the Gerhardts come over as well, probably in order to…
Way back, I theorised that Hanzee was reflecting on the job that he'd been given - finding Rye - and reflecting that they wanted him to be a magician. But he's not impressed by magic, and he's no magician himself - he knows if you find a rabbit, you break its neck and eat its liver raw.
Is no-one else going to point out the "Wounded Knee" joke, or is it so obvious as to not merit discussion?
Same here. I think they're harmless if you don't know 'em, and a nice little "oh, I get it" hint for cinema buffs. If you're irritated by 'em, probably the best thing to do is to stop being irritated.
Well pointed-out - and coupled with his comment to Greta Grimly that when he sat outside his porch that one time, he wasn't waiting for a "who" so much as a "what".
Pretty sure in ep. 1 or 2 they said "Send the half-breed" to do something or other.
Here's a thing: isn't it more than likely by this point that Peggy's state-of-mind is informed by the aliens? After all, she, like Hank, has also been hoarding papers in one room and searching for meaning.
I was more than sure the ghostly guy was the founder of Lifespring, considering how ably Peggy had a quote of his to hand in "Rhinoceros".
Beautiful little parallel: right after Dodd mentions Samson and Delilah, the toughest customer in the whole cast comes by asking for a haircut.
Also, how phenomenal was the soundtrack on this one? Very Beethoven.
I've pointed out how the Twelfth Doctor's hair, clothing (earlier on) and shades gave him a passing resemblance to the late Lou Reed; but it's only in this episode, by not taking off his coat while digging, that he really took the Velvet Underground.
Ah, but how well do you trust the Moff? He's also recently admitted that he wrote River Song into the Xmas special because he thought he might never again get the chance. So perhaps Series 10 is the final wrap-up for both him and Capaldi…
Not to mention, like, every damned Christmas Special. It's telling that the quality didn't actually improve on those until "A Christmas Carol" - and that was the first one not to include a gigantic bloody massacre as well…
Well, where there's a Will…
Probably it was called "Quoth".
If rumour holds true and this is Capaldi's final season after all - or, at least, if he regenerates next year - he's going out on a bloody high note. A triumphant one, by gum!
He is carrying it in the promo pics for next week, sooo…be careful what you wish for…
