Honestly, this cover is more insulting to me than any of the BS that Trump has espoused on this subject over the last few days. His comments are not surprising at all and completely expected (albeit wildly inappropriate and backwards).

So... the commissioner of the league that is still collectively refusing to employ Kaepernick. But no Kaepernick. That really is some amazing jujitsu by the NFL PR department, which is clearly what SI is at this point.
“...even though his picture is not there, Colin Kaepernick is there.”
Largely in order to laud those responsible for blacklisting him. It’s fucking shameful.
For those of you watching at home, he wasn’t saying, “Boooooooooooooooooo,” it just sounded like that.
From a fellow longtime Laker fan who hated but respected the Spurs in those older years, I completely agree. Pop is a class act.
Depends on how you define “politics”.
It’s the essence of privilege.
All of this. As much as I disliked the Spurs (not hate. That’s reserved specifically for the Celtics and Boston in general) as a team, I’ve always had respect for the organization and Pop. That respect has morphed into full on crush these past few years.
The kneeling symbolizes an attempt to bring attention to police brutality perpetrated on people of color.
Yes. Politics in everything. People who say they aren’t political or don’t care for politics get a giant eye roll from me.
I can’t stand dumbasses who say they don’t want to hear about politics while watching sports or movies or music or whatever medium. There’s always going to be some message of social justice/civil rights in everything, even sports because it’s part of LIFE.
I’ve seen a lot of veterans say and do this. They’ve been categorically ignored. Those people only like to bring up service members when it suits their own narrative. They’re not props.
He can stop the commercial but he can’t stop that check. Von still got paid and they got outed as racist. It’s a win
Just need to convince them you’re on the same team, and that laying down that sac bunt is going to let them ‘win’ too...
Adam Silver’s decision to move the All-Star Game over LGBT rights in general and transgender in particular show there are good people from the top down to the goofy white dude waving the towel at the end of the bench in the NBA.
It’s funny how those born on third base find it so easy to find someone to sacrifice so they can score.
I agree, we do need a mighty river of them - and it’s starting to flow!! These white, rich men are in a position where they can afford the brunt of backlash. It has to start somewhere where the US-white, middle-class mind is forced to see it, and it has. I am a little hopeful. I don’t want to be too hopeful yet. I am…
I want to preface this by saying that I am a Laker fan and although it doesn’t count for much these days, in the salad days of 90’s-00’s basketball the Lakers-Spurs match-ups were Must-See basketball. Basically, that’s a long way of saying I used to HATE the Spurs...emphasis on ‘used to.’
Another Texas veteran gets it too:
