I don’t hate it, and I’d much rather see one of these than a diesel F-350. But I’d really rather the huge battery this thing has be used to build three more sensible vehicles. Batteries are the big constraint in developing more affordable (and just plain more) EVs.

That sounds like the story about all of the cars that were left sitting in the parking lots of LIRR stations because their owners were killed on 9/11.

The mining company has a point but way more research is required (Before anyone @’s me.)

So what BMW and Volvo are saying is that they’ve got long term contracts tied up with shady suppliers that use abysmal environmental practices and child labor their trusted vendors?

Battery metals are a pinch point, but outright dismissing harvesting nodules off of the seafloor is outright irresponsible. Maybe it’s

That’s not what’s being proposed though.

Mine asteroids.

But where are we gonna get the materials?

Once again the Volt is the (now canceled) answer

Gotta be better than oil rigs, right?

But then how, exactly, is one supposed to: “radiate more openness and clarity”.

I don’t think the reason for the degradation in the Tesla’s numbers have to do with battery charge, I think they have to do with heat mitigation right? I don’t think the drop in performance would be as noticeable if they hadn’t done 15 consecutive pulls.

But you have a Tesla, so, you could go gather this data for us...

The first fully charged pull does not matter that much I agree. The issue is that the 5th pull is over 6 seconds on the Tesla and still under 3 on the Porsche. This means that as you go about your day of driving your ability to merge, overtake and calculate distances is different while still being in the same car. I

Yes.

I didn’t see it in the release either, but Motor Authority and others confirmed from Porsche.

as i reach for my crinkled $5 bill in my pocket, and open my center console to check for coins. Yes, #TakeAllMyMoney

Sigh, as per the five or so posts above, the 2020 Soul EV is the same as the Kona and the Niro. It is apparently not on sale in the US yet, but the one I have in Canada is not imaginary.

I think ‘most’ people don’t, actually.  A single person with no deductions of any sort would have to earn over 65k to pay that much in federal, and a married couple with 2 kids would have to earn 115k (with no other deductions) to reach that point.

Same as the Kona EV, not the Soul

Imagine a world in which not everyone lives in America...

Except for the costs of the drivetrains and “fuel” systems an EV should be about the same cost-to-build as an ICE car. Add in the drivetrains and the EV is somewhat cheaper. Then add in the battery pack and the EV is quite a bit more expensive than a car with an empty gas tank. According to the Union for Concerned
