That was not a revelation anymore than Yoga Jones saying she puts her hair in two pigtails on her own would be a revelation.

Her state of mind makes sense though. She felt hopeless outside of prison so what's motivating her to get through her sentence? Life on the outside will be just as frustrating. And imagine Piper being your whole support system. At least in Season 1 she had Nicky.
I doubt it's anything profound, some kind of undisclosed aggravated assault. There's probably more interesting things to explore in a Suzanne flashback. Unless it's someone using her a la Vee for a crime she didn't commit.
You should feel dirty for that choice of wording, but yes, we'd all like to see Boo go after the donut guy with a jolly rancher shank.
They seem to have pairings within the group that are genuinely friends (Gloria and Aleida, Maritza and Flaca, Blanca and Maria) but I don't think the pairs necessarily get along with the rest of the faction. Black Girl Mob, on the other hand, would absolutely be friends outside of prison… Suzanne being the notable…
I thought Aleida was coming around this season. She can pretty awful but she's a victim of circumstances. I feel like after her initial characterization as a bad mother she's been more sentimental and seems to want better for her kids even though she knows she hasn't done right by them.
It's not controversial to dislike her acting, no one's going to accuse you of being transphobic for saying so (or they'd be wrong if they did, anyway). I never thought of it as bad acting, though. Her admittedly stilted delivery makes sense for the character to me.
I'm just glad Fig won't be there in the aftermath to ask Tiffany if it was "consensual" (and not just because I'm afraid she might say that it was).
As was alluded in the review, I liked that if there was going to be nudity in an episode like this that it was reserved for the sweet sexual awakening scene between Pennsatucky and her first real boyfriend Nathan. This may be on the brink of not wanting to show reality, but there's an inevitability with depicting rape…
Not including the mystery of the Cuban girls' half-a-bottle-of-conditioner Curly Girl Method™ curl definition, they've been very true to life with the natural hair, notably that Ms. Claudette, Jenae, and Taystee seemed to have gone natural (or stopped wearing wigs/weaves) in preparation for prison. I also love the…
I was horrified by that line. It made it hard to digest the scene which would have been kind of endearing otherwise. At least it reinforced that Pornstache deserves to be in prison for those who were feeling soft about his being there.
I was really shocked by that turn because I was enthusiastically rooting for the development of the Donut C.O./Pennsatucky pairing. The innate yuckiness of a guard/inmate relationship was way lessened by this guy being an untrained seemingly light-hearted newbie who didn't act on the power he could have had over Tucky…
And White Cindy is White Cindy, not plain "Cindy", so I can get behind it.
I didn't buy the youngest version of Suzanne that we see in the hospital flashback while her adoptive parents are having their child. I always remember her as a notably bad casting choice. The slightly older slumber party version of young Suzanne is very believable though.
From an interview it sounded like the actress who plays Vee thought it would be unrealistic NOT to have nudity in that scene and (reluctantly?) encouraged it for the sake of the character, which is honestly bizarre to me because as a person watching a tv show I have no expectation of nudity from the actors.
It really does seem heartless and unnecessary to berate a character like Daya for her choices romantic and otherwise when we see the circumstances of her growing up and how she ended up in prison. Disliking her storyline and taking issue with the writers is one thing but I don't see how anyone can look at what Daya's…
I interpret it as the show trying to diminish the idea that "scissoring" is the go to act for lesbians, and as another commenter pointed out it'd be easy to assume that's what happened without a flash of dildo. I suspect seeing Boo postcoital at that angle was meant to represent her having unapologetically settled…
I was surprised that the few times she spoke up she was agreeing with the others since she looked pretty bewildered amongst their commentary for most of the day. Her face when they were talking about the inconvenience of menstruating inmates was hilarious.
I didn't notice it all, but I can see how it would offend those who picked it up on their own. If it had really been so terrible, though, everyone would have seen it.
Morello's line wasn't "I'm butter, you're toast", it was "I'll butter your toast", the first supporting example of her (easily disproved) theory that the "I'll x your y" formula can make any words flirtatious.
