This is why the “Conspiracy Brother” part of me is not convinced that this entire story is really a plant by the US right wing to scare white folks before the 2020 election.

Harlem is not even a borough. It’s a mere sliver of a *borough* (the borough of Manhattan, NYC). It’s still Black though - just not as Black as Brooklyn. ;)
Those of us from Brooklyn know that it is the 4th largest city in America (that it is not a city is a mere technicality ignored by anyone from Brooklyn.) “Love is the Message” by MFSB is Brooklyn’s “National Anthem” which is still filling dance floors in less than 30 seconds even though it dropped about 45 years ago…
The most depressing thing about this documentary is our (Black people’s) response to it. R. Kelly’s downloads and streams have *soared* since this began airing. I have been sick to my stomach reading comments from a huge number of Black men AND WOMEN going to the same-old same-old well of excuses, rejection of Black…
Thank you. As someone who lives 5 miles from Mountain View and within 2 miles of 3 different hospitals, I was really confused as to how the brother got shot up here and yet they had to take him all the way to San Diego. May he rest in peace.

In the case of an estate like this, everyone has hired premier firms that cost a LOT of money at their hourly rates, so $6M in fees isn’t as hard to rack up as you might imagine especially when there is no…
A great episode. One nit, however: Stanford goes out of its way to offer as many full-freight scholarships as it possibly can. Since both Howard and Stanford place lots of weight on family income, the idea that Howard—especially when considering Junior, who is coming from outside of the Washington DC/VA/MD area, which…
I don’t think it was vague at all to the Black women who read it, particularly those who were raised in the church. WE knew who “Children of Ham” was referring to because that trope was used to justify oppressing us for centuries. Also, if you read the descriptions of the Marthas in particular, Rita is no way no how…
Agreed. The forced resettlement of both Blacks and Jews in the original work is quite meaningful yet deliberately ignored in this otherwise great show. An entire season dealing with just that could have been written!
As Malcolm X once said: “You can’t sing up on freedom. But you can swing up on some freedom.” I don’t advocate violence, but I do understand the desire to do some in moments like this. Hell, even I feel that desire, in moments like this.
