I think the issues are a lot more complex then that. I dont think developed countries simply dont want to help the thirld world. In fact they do a lot of that. The issues in how this help works and how the Western economic interests tend to cancel out any impact this help does.

I think the sophistication of the politics in district 9 are overhyped. Blompak feigns political consciousness but he is in reality to shallow to be able to really engage on the issues. In both of his movies he derailed the whole issue by sticking to a white saviour trope and sidelining the non-white characters. In

Never thought about it but true. Michael Keaton is probably the only actor who has been able to show that aspect of Batman.

My sentiments exactly. I dont think Ill be able to watch that movie again. Dont get me wrong, I laughed and enjoyed the bit with the Trevor revelation, but it totally changed the tone of the film for me. It basically made it a totally different film. And whilst I dnt think we should get exactly what we expect in

I like the guy and I hope he does well. But as a non-white person I cant help but see that the people he lost the role generically look similar to him and each other. Generic White male leads. It actually says a lot about hollywood. I wonder what else we would find out if we saw the losers of most leads in major

Johannesburg, South Africa, engine of Africa. I dont think i can live anywhere else in the country, Jo'Burg has so much diversity, people from across the country, continent an world. Only place where you are likely to be with a group of 11 people and each speak one of the 11 official languages of the country. As the

And sadly that one has been forgotten. As a person living next door to Namibia in South Africa I only recently learnt of this.

But that's the issue, people are not rational and so would not be able to make the rational distinction between mutant (born that way) and mutant/superpowered (made that way). Look at what happened on twitter with Miss America who is of Indian descent. People see differently-abled and they would think mutant.

But that's the thing, people do rationalise their bigotry in some way or other. Bigots dont sporadically and randomly hate people. There are specific reasons why they do, and the similarities between mutants and superpowered beings in the Mutant universe would ensure that people mistake the two groups. It would be
