“. . . sharing a few thoughts on being a new dad.

So . . . it’s ‘Waiting for Guffman’, as directed by Jacques Rivette?

I love Queen (well, up to but not including ‘Hot Space’), and therefore wouldn’t see this even if Bryan Singer wasn’t attached to it. And your comment about ‘its willingness to minimize the importance of the albums . . . [and] songwriting’ makes me feel even more comfortable with that decision.

The best of the best . . . and Fallon.

During Paul Simon’s performance I honestly couldn’t tell if was watching SNL or ‘Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip’. The giveaway: Sorkin’s actors weren’t glassily staring past/above/away from their scene-partners to read cue cards. But for Gardner, easily the MVP here, this was a D-.

He’s fantastic in ‘Foxcatcher’. An incredibly complex, nuanced performance.

Jesus Christ, you do like the sound of your own voice, Prince. 37 posts yesterday, a screed about the unearned privilege of Elle fucking Kemper today. (Yeah, rich people tend to be over-represented in the arts. I don’t like it either, but, you know, we get it.)

Heidi Gardner is extraordinarily talented, I think.

Given how much Penn smokes, you have to imagine that they were thinking, “Well, this dude can probably breathe Methane if he has to . . .”

I’d be astonished if they make it to the altar.

‘Honor and devastation.’ Very well put.

Nice to see the Volksbühne being pressed into service as the dance school – though I saw a few productions that horrified me far more deeply than this movie ever will.

Bless you, cheetahsayshi. You took the words right out of my mouth.

Irreversible’ is probably a smarter film than he intended to make, but I think he’s a superb filmmaker, and I know (from my few encounters with him over the years) that he doesn’t at all think of himself as an intellectual. Neither of which is to say he’s a dummy, either. He’s a filmmaker whose goal is simply to make

Couldn’t agree more. Many of their subscribers behaved like petulant fucking assholes.
