The fact that you got no upvotes on this pleases me.

I can't argue with that.

Right, but for argument's sake, if you saw a Swede and an Italian standing next to each other, would you consider them to be two white people?

Of course not, nobody thinks that. If we did then we wouldn't have races at all and there'd be no grand way to categorize humans. We'd just be a collection of 7 billion completely different, separate lifeforms with absolutely nothing in common.

So it's not necessarily about trying to look like another race, it's about the assumption that all, not some, members of a certain race have a certain series of features in common. I can understand that (although I'd say it's disingenuous to pretend that there are zero similarities among certain members of a race, but

What purpose would that serve?

Gotcha, that makes perfect sense to me. I had heard that the show was considerably better than the movie so I just assumed that's what you meant. I'll check em both out though. Thanks!

Ask the creators of the app. I'm using their parameters, not yours.

Hey, I don't agree with it and would never use the app, because I wouldn't find it fun, funny, or entertaining. I just knew that, given the audience here, nobody else would dare come close to asking a question like that, so I just figured I would. That's all.

That's fine. I just didn't see the harm in an app simulating like that, as opposed to something like actual blackface. In my opinion, it's different than me (a white guy — shocking, I know)) painting my face black in order to make fun of the way black people look, or to take a job away from a black person. It's just a

Does that matter? It's entertainment, boredom-killing, something to pass time, like just about everything we do.

What exactly is the issue though? Is it just a blanket "never imitate another race for any reason" thing? I can accept that answer, but nobody's given it yet.

Okay, I will. Short of me watching TV for 10 hours though, can you sum up what the issue is with something like this?

What exactly is the "offense" though?

Playing devil's advocate here, and shifting my position in my chair so as not to expose my nuts to any knees: what exactly is so bad about this?

I will say that I did enjoy the scenes with Charles Grodin in that arc, but that's about it.

Very true, but I think part of why it works with LD is because he plays "himself" (as in, a super rich guy who co-created one of the biggest shows ever). Louis, meanwhile, plays a 10-to-20 years-ago version of himself.

You didn't enjoy 6 laugh-free episodes about his relationship with a Polish woman?

As I recall he tried to kiss her (which, not exactly something that should be encouraged, but I don't know about calling it "rape"), but then he was effectively raped by Melissa Leo's character.
