If you're referring to Reek's torture, I can understand why they showed that. In the books, you're able to go into Reek's mind, seeing first hand how shattered he is. He's barely even human anymore, fearing to even think his own name.

I remember getting so hungry reading his books, so I'd go make some shitty sandwich and read about their damned extravagant feasts

What can I say? I have mountains of hope for humanity :P

Because in the books she was up for sex right beside the corpse of her dead son. Seemed pretty obvious to me.

Yeah, they deserve to be spoiled

There is a difference between the girl you try to kiss who says no and kisses back and the girl you try to kiss who says no, fuck off. Every man is not a rapist (unless Benioff and Weiss are writing for them), sorry.

Agreed, she did always love her children, but every other bit of her is just terrible. Its really strange, they seem to be softening up Shae as well.

There was a whore in Winterfel, I don't even recall if she was given a name. She never went to Kings Landing.

Ros is not in the books, you twit.

Oh, in the show, that was clearly rape. I mean, I suppose you could make the argument that her sobbing was from grief, that feels like reaching to me though. The books however, no.

Well, Arya's kill count is quite a bit higher in the books… what with the attack on the night's watch that they cut out and she did freak out and repeatedly stab the tickler. If anything they've toned down Arya… I mean, she's fixing to be trained as an assassin.

I'm amazed at the number of people who thrust their opinion in on matters that they have no knowledge about. Nich, you're out of your element. You can hardly criticize the writing of such massive books based on two excerpts.

I think you need to remember, that while GRRM does use unreliable narrator a lot, the unreliability of the narrator comes in their telling of what happened. If you're seeing something from a character's POV, it isn't the words that are unreliable.
