Almost... Almost.
Almost... Almost.
The ‘Buffalo Billion’ was another empty promise to working class people that funnelled money into his donors pockets though... The 15/hr minimum wage increase didn’t even happen in WNY, despite rents going up $100 a year his entire second term.
I shamefully admit to not knowing about there being a region called Western NY till college. We’re very ignorant in some strange ways down here.
She needs a chunk to close that 75k gap that Teachout had last primary. Am I too optomistic to think that’s well in hand? Especially after Cuomo’s nonsensical I Too Am An Undocumented Immigrant ramblings?
The rest of the state is way more pro-Nixon than NYC and its suburbs. I think that reality vs perception that is the most surprising. Zephyr Teachout took everywhere but the supposedly most liberal part of the state. I guess all that gentrification drove out the generations of working class families that made NYC…
For a long time Democrats have aggressively protected incumbents and attacked any perception of challenge. Many myth peddlers argued that primaries are just spoilers. People bought into the idea, either by fear or ignorance, and the entrenched charalatans got away with moving far to the right of where the party stood…
Apparently the ‘experienced politician’ factor does not require one have any brains whatsoever. A complete lack of decency seems the only prerequisite.
Thank god someone else was bothered by the unnescesarry shakey camera work. And it would seem to always have a straight line in the top eigth of the shot that made it so much more glaring, as if they were on a boat or something. Maybe its an editor’s quirk, but it drove me up the wall like the visual equivelant of…
Projecting a lot here... look at how many I’s you’re using. This isn’t about you, its about a lifelong activist and incredibly -accomplished- artist stepping up for people who don’t get heard in any election. Cuomo is well versed in selling New Yorkers out to Republicans, how is that better?
I think she’s intelligent enough to ask when she isn’t exhaustively knowledgable on a subject, and like ALL politicians will be able to chose advisors.
She’s actually doing much better upstate, only down by 11%.
She isn’t taking dirty money, and isn’t practiced at pandering to the wealthy all day. That’s all the “experience” career politicians are offering these days: selling us out. Its definitely a plus to not be a career grifter!
And its not just acting, but reaching an elite level of the craft. She almost has an EGOT! I had no idea, and the part about her experience when in Angels in America during the AIDS crisis in that New Yorker piece was very moving.
I thought she was a stunt candidate before this weekend. The Working Families Party vote drama this weekend surprised me so I took another look. She actually impressed me, and that New Yorker piece you mention was especially enlightening. Her history of activism, even getting arrested to try and help get more public…
Ah attacking. Kind of showing your hand there, Mr. Super Volunteer.
I specifically said its -not- easy, and I’m not picking on you. Try not to get defensive, I totally undrestand that people online usually are just turning your crank, but I’m not.
No, its not harder to get those charges to stick. Who told you that?
I feel you 100%, but continuing with this logic:
Even if it did, that would just be a really thin excuse. Deregulation crushes communities and ruins smaller alternatives.
Plus entire state systems like pensions and even the food stamp program run through these crooks. Vote with your dollars is a poorly thought out approach to systemic corruption.
