Really, Jezebel? You represent the BLACK WOMAN, Sam Irby who ACTUALLY wrote it with a pic of a chicken? Damn!

OH NO I haven’t checked in on Bitches Gotta Eat in a few months and I actually said ‘noooo’ aloud reading that Helen died :(

My cynical side think that the detail may have been left out on purpose

Irby will be writing on the show as well which is not made clear in this piece.

I just finished binging this entire season and I think the writing and performances, especially that of Phoebe Waller is truly brilliant. I found nothing unlikeable about her character. Sorry to be that person, but, if the character was a dude, he would be praised for being honest, troubled, sensitive, and ultimately

Now playing

I’m so tired of this lie. 1/3rd of the congressional black caucus and Senator Bernie Sanders were opposed to the “tough on crime” provision of the Crime Bill. That it hurt black communities was not a complete revelation 20 years later. Savy people who resisted the powerful political influence of the Clinton’s knew

Me too, the scene where she finds her dad crying on the street made me weep openly. My cat was confused.

I cried a few times.

I don’t find her unlikable in the same sense of the characters from Girls. I find Fleabag to be funny and self-aware, and in some of the scenes with Boo, she is quite caring. I find Hannah and crew to be irritating and with no self-awareness at all.

This show is really good, and I don’/t think she’s unlikeable. I loved how the arc of the story helped you understand her better.

This was an amazing series that ended up being much more that I had anticipated.

Considering the hand the Clintons had in the mass incarceration of black men, three-strikes laws and the general “tough on crime” nonsense, I’m expecting the silence in the comments section is going to be deafening.

YES. I was an American living in London during the time of the initial murder, arrests, trials, and the British press was INSANE. And it was astonishing to me how they really took sides and were very emotional in accusations with little or terrible evidence. (Obviously the US has now joined the race to the bottom in

They arrested and convicted geologists of manslaughter for not predicting a fucking earthquake! Fortunately it was overturned. My husband, whose research involves fault zones, considered doing a sabbatical in Italy — I was so down to hang out there for a year! — but he was very turned off after that fiasco.

I may get attacked for this, but the British press coverage, and the response of the readership, was just as baffling/terrifying as the Italian legal system. It looked at the time like some weird echo chamber was created between the British tabloid press and the Italian courts, goading each other and whipping each

The wikipedia article is an okay place to start.

I mean, the whole time they had the guy who did it, they just wanted to pick on an American too. The Italian justice system is totally fucked up. They accept astrology as evidence! They truly believe in Satanic cults, stuff that’s been disproved in most civilized nations for decades. Remember the Satanic Panic? Italy

It’s just another way to move goalposts. Bill Cosby got a bit of this benefit at first too, the “times were different back then” argument.

Asking that you explain your position, and any possible inconsistencies, is not bait. Your refusal to answer speaks volumes.
