There were a LOT of ads though. I don't think I ever saw any mention of it in a magazine, but god if KB Toys and Nickelodeon weren't blanketed for about a month. (It could also be that the ads were just really jarring and stuck in my memory more easily.)

Yeah, it's in that dark age of non-compatibility that prevents it from getting a re-release. It would hugely benefit from that though. :(

There was an article many years ago that I can't find and that I'm sure is horrifically out-of-date that mentioned the idea of a "low-level" story in games. The idea was that people become more attached to the mini-narratives they write in their head based on the game mechanics than on the overarching story of the

Receiving Transmission from David Bowie's Nipple Antennae, Internet!

Don't bring late-night public access TV down to that level.

So is everyone in agreement that Expert Witness is the best column right now?

Also, A. A. Dowd is an honorary Keyboard Genius for bringing up The Humans in this week's AVQ&A. That game never worked right on my old computer. :(

Aww, oh well. It's definitely even more legit and massive this year. I'm a lil sad that it's becoming borderline industrialized in the big panels and big guests, but there's still lots of good side content this year.

This weekend I'm going to Awesome Con in DC, an emerging comic con-type event that's only in its third year but is always crazy fun. Attendance this time is expected to be around 50,000 (!), and as part of it, they're greatly expanding their gaming section. I'm unclear about what all will be there; there are two big

Aw jeez, Mario 64's controls… I remember them being fantastic, but I'm in the middle of a 120 star playthrough right now, and ohhhh wow the size of Mario's turning circle is dispiriting. :(

I'm actually a big fan of the idea. I know there's general negativity about artificially restricting access to content, but the multiplayer games I tend to enjoy the most are ones with ongoing events and constant changes that encourage you to keep playing over time. If Nintendo wants to build a community that will
