Word Spud is definitely the weakest of the Jackbox pack, mostly because it doesn't have any meaningful sense of progression or competition. It's fun to make word chains, but unless you're a hyper-competitive asshole who constantly downvotes people, there's just not much going on. It probably would've worked better

I personally don't own any Nintendo systems for various incidental reasons, but my family owns the whole gamut. So during this season, I tend to play Wii stuff. With my family's recent acquisition of a Wii U, I'm greatly hoping for some Smash Bros., Mario 3D World, and Mario Kart 8 action!

Not yet; it's part of the MAGES programming block, which currently doesn't have a schedule set. I'll be sure to post an update once I know!

Alright, it's awkward to be self-advertising in the comments section, but this is sort of the community thread and it's the last one for a few weeks so here we go!

Just entirely for nostalgic purposes since I'm in the middle of replaying it, I'm gonna say the the loading sound from Final Fantasy VII. It was the signal that adventure is about to begin! Similarly, I also love the sound of a computer CD drive kicking in while it reads a disc, but that's not really from a particular

You know, after a really rough year for the world, this is exactly what we needed. Grover Norquist and Keith Olbermann, side-by-side with Big Bird and Bryan Cranston, singing about sunny days. I've watched this several times, and not jokingly, I'm almost in tears. Thank you, Colbert.

My highlight of the year is the credits theme from #IDARB. The game is still in pre-release, but it's a pretty fantastic/hilarious little song.

The "story" really is a total waste, so I'm actually sort of excited about this because it's a chance for a do-over. Maybe Telltale has a legitimate interesting story to tell about the Endermen, the Nether, etc.!

Going back to TimeSplitters 2 is a surreal experience. It's cut from such a different cloth than any other game nowadays. A friend and I played the Chicago stage on co-op, and it's far more strategic and challenging than I remember. It's so odd to play a shooter that emphasizes strategy and cooperation beyond "You

Reading about those scripted sequences makes me think of Split/Second, a 2010 racing game that similarly incorporated crazy setpieces into a racing experience. The difference is that Split/Second was built around those as a gameplay feature. The tracks changing and exploding was part of the game, and the

Capcom's Street-Wise Hercules EX

I was 13 and impressionable when I saw it, and its brilliant stupidness has just sort of stuck with me for years for some reason.

This is a close contender for the best poetic adaptation of Zelda II, alongside the classic "This is My House."

I definitely remember the strategy and such that caused the whole kerfuffle, I just never encountered any cases of it happening in the wild (but smilinwizard provides!)

There we go! That's much beefier than I expected. I always had this image in my mind of just like a white, latex-y magician glove type of thing. Thanks!

Alright, that header picture reminds me: does anyone remember that bizarre business where people got injured playing Mario Party and Nintendo had to send gloves everyone? Does anyone have any first-hand evidence of that whole incident? I can find a lot of news sources talking about it, but I've never met someone who

That said, I do love how some dated attempts at photorealism have become their own style. Pre-rendered graphics from 90s are obviously limited compared to what can be done now, but they're distinct enough from any other art style that they are still effective on their own terms. Same with stuff like PS1 "realism": I

I forgot all about Auto Modellista! Everyone was so excited for it before it came out, and although I never played it, I'm still surprised that it ended up getting a collective shrug.

The most recent time I played Sonic Adventure (maybe 5-6 years ago?), a friend and I popped it in exclusively to try some glitches. It was significantly more fun than I expected and, realistically, the best way to play it now.

And featuring: Benedict Cumberbatch as himself.
