sounds fun. make it as accessible as possible for the public.  Get lots of sponsors to offset costs.

I spent the build-up to the fight at the beginning whispering under my breath “do it.... do it.... DO IT...”

FWIW, I’m enjoying the deeper dive into Spock’s and T’Pring’s relationship, and the additional insights into TOS-era Vulcan culture is nice as well.

The teaser had little callbacks to TOS fight music, and my nerd heart was so full of joy.

I’m currently playing it with some friends on a self hosted server. Some things really speak for it:

DS9/TNG Film unis are #1 for me, with the Monster Maroons being #2 and the Kelvinverse unis being #3.

The serialized storytelling doesn’t bother me.  DS9 did it right, weaving an overall plot with standalones.  But what I’m most hopeful for is a Trek that recaptures that sense of optimism and adventure that still recognizes humanity’s shortcomings (but shows we can overcome them).

Why not? Pike was great in Discovery.

Chernobyl is embarrassing to the USSR. I bet schools don’t teach it, or it’s a single paragraph in their history books. It’s Russia’s Tulsa.

I’ve heard reporting that some of the soldiers there hadn’t even heard of the Chernobyl accident.

As per BBC reporting, the Russian soldiers that took over Chernobyl drove their tanks thru the Red Forest kicking up radioactive dirt in the process. Soldiers never wore protective suits and had no clue why Chernobyl was in the state it was in. Soldiers also began digging trenches around the nuclear plant. The reason

More Big O please and thank you.

Captain’s log: Stardate 6051. Had trouble sleeping last night. My hiatal hernia is acting up. The ship is drafty and damp. I complained, but… nobody listened.”

I kind of the liked the dumb throwaway line to explain why Guinan has gotten older despite her basically being an immortal El Aurian ‘Oh I just decided to look older’

So it’s confirmed: Michelle Yeoh is all-powerful.

And like the whole point of Jedi is that this time he doesn’t do that. He trusts his friends to do their jobs, and focuses on doing his, and things work out much better.

That shouldn’t be controversial, it’s true. His voice roles tend to be big characters full of gusto (ie. villains) and his interview voice is warm and gravelly. Maybe I’m wrong and there’s footage of him speaking with youthful clarity.

And he also got his ass kicked by Vader. Like the whole point of the movie is that Luke ran off to face him early, fell into Vader's trap, and LOST. Vader doing the "join me" thing is the only reason Luke lived.
