Thanks! It’s certainly ironic that angry Redditors have been dragging me all weekend for being a Blizzard shill because I criticized the petulant red-shirt guy on Twitter while at the same time I was digging into this story that Blizzard certainly didn’t want to come out.

Squish is the only way they can combat power creep. Without squish the numbers would become incomprehensible.

From a raid perspective it gets hard to read at some points, especially if you’ve got floating combat text. There’s something to be said that simple numbers help you get a sense of how the fight is going and how you’re performing.

As someone who started playing in Wrath, left midway through Pandaria and came back a few months ago, I can attest that WoW is a staggeringly different game, especially from the BC days. They’ve definitely made a lot of systemic improvements to the game and they’ve gotten a lot better with their quest and narrative…
