I was under the impression Iron Man 2 took place concurrently with The Incredible Hulk. In the middle of the film they show a bit of Hulk’s fight at the college, and by the end of the film, Tony was hired on as a “consultant,” which explains why he showed up at the end of IH.  That might be me splitting hairs.
