All great examples of things that were STUPID hard for industry to convince the public to buy.  Thanks for making my point!  Each of those took years and years of PR campaigns to make household items.  Hell, it took almost a decade before people started thinking of a home computer as anything but a kids toy.

You’re not wrong, but at the current rate (pardon the pun), we’re talking what? At least a decade if not two until that switchover happens? The average time people keep cars today is like 11-12 years.  That flip point is well past 2030 that’s for certain.

Not really, no. DVDs hit the market until 1997 and didn’t surpass VHS rentals until the middle of 2003. VHS was still incredibly viable until around 2005, with the last VHS release in 2006. Really DVDs didn’t take off until about 2000-2001. The first few years they were giving those things away. Literally. Nobody

It’s a subsidy because it immediately drops the consumer price, thereby (in theory) upping demand, but leaves the commodity price untouched. Suddenly, buyers and sellers of oil are paying the same amount, but consumers are demanding it more, so they sell more units and therefore make more money.

Convincing the public to adopt new tech is notoriously difficult, especially if it doesn’t offer anything particularly “new” they didn’t already have. Take just one recent example, DVDs for instance - they spent millions on PR campaigns AND gave’em away like crazy to get people to buy into the tech, and that’s just

WV was the most Democratically controlled state in the country from roughly 1940 until 2000 and people STILL talked shit about WV. Doesn’t matter who is in charge - deriding WV has been a national pastime for decades.

HEY NOW!  Don’t be hatin’ on his dog.  That dog hasn’t done anything wrong.  It’s not his fault his owner is an epic grade asshole.

Uhhh... NOPE! That’s not terrorism.  Not by any reasonable definition.  It isn’t a definition of terrorism in the US, nor in Canada, nor in the EU... heck, I’m not even sure the OP is right that it qualifies under the UN definition either.

Little known hidden feature in the Resolute Desk.  Queen Victoria installed it herself before she gifted it to President Hayes.  Sure, coal and whale oil were all the rage in 1880, but ol’ Queen Vicky knew oil would dominate.  She learned it from her lover on the down-low, Standard Oil President and founder, JD

Chrysler gotta Chyrsler!

As strongly as I disagree with these numbnutz and their incredibly childish stance on all of this.... I can’t see any decent way to call this terrorism. Protests have to be permissible in a free society. That might mean we see disruptions as a result, but that’s our collective costs. Otherwise minority (BROADLY

‘Fair nuff. It’s been awhile for me, so I couldn’t remember when had basic bio. I remember 8th grade was “Earth Science” and 9th was Physics (my ‘middle school’ was 7th, 8th, and 9th) and I’ve done everything in my power to block out the hellish landscape that was 7th grade :)

Hey, if the morons can only infect themselves and stay out of the hospitals, maybe go die in a ditch, I’m ok with it. Plays stupid games get stupid prizes. Instead these idiots want to play “I’m a Big Boy!!” and gunk up the medical system so people with real problems NOT caused by oversized egos run amok can’t get in

No, it absolutely provably works! That’s like arguing if brakes can’t stop a car 100% of the time, then we should never put brakes on a car. This isn’t a binary. It’s not either “always works 100% or utterly useless”. That’s a pretty flimsy and weak argument. No vaccine has ever in the history of humanity 100%

Again with the factually, provable falsehoods. This one isn’t even logically consistent. First, they aren’t “full”. They’re at a level that is considered to have no safety net. Which is a huge problem. Why are they at that level? It’s 100% because of moronic COVID patients that won’t bother to do the most basic thing,

Perhaps you skipped high school science? Look, a mutation could just as easily jumped to “more deadly”. Anti-vaxx people got STUPID lucky this time. The vaccine isn’t supposed to PREVENT spread you numbnuts! It’s supposed to HAMPER the spread. And it 100%, provably works! It has from day one. It continues to do so. It

False! You getting a vaccine helps stop mutations. It helps keep the hospitals clear. It helps keep your selfish ass at work and doesn’t force your co-workers to pick up your slack. It keeps you from infecting random strangers in the grocery store, not all of which can survive even a breakthrough infection.

What an utterly daft take.... I assume you ignore stop signs and are the type of person that passes stopped school buses so you can run over kids whenever you feel like shaving a couple seconds of your travel time. I assume this because you think any rules are “authoritarian” or a “boot licking world”.

Awww... I would think this would rate in there somewhere. I mean at least via with Crew for third place.

It would be nice for a change if non-white people could themselves tell the stories of non-white people, instead of having to settle with simply consulting on stories of non-white people as told by white people.
