Want to attract women? Make Vespa like things. HD knew how to do it in the 60's with the Topper.  Why not reimagine it with a retro look and an all electric drivetrain for the young, urban rider? I think it’d bring in all sorts of under 30's into riding.

“No downside”?  You think Aerosmith gave their name away?  That branding probably cost a small fortune to secure.  That’s money much better spent on Lizzo or someone more cultural relevant today.  Or... I don’t know.... designing a bike that someone making under 6 figures can afford to have as a toy.

To be even more fair, Japanese and Korean cars have also gotten substantially better in those 15 years. American cars always seem to be playing catch-up.

We’re not talking about “Stuff”. We’re talking about automobiles specifically. The overwhelming majority of buyers don’t pay MSRP and it isn’t because they have magic haggling skills. That’s just the expectation. The average transaction price in 2019 was $2,286 below MSRP. The average transaction price was around

You’re missing the point.... you don’t need to haggle. You’ve already got the lowest price. You’re not “expected” to pay X amount. They flat out assume you will pay LESS than X amount. You’re just arguing about how much. What if “how much” was 100% the same for everyone? Why would that be a bad thing?

And I’d argue that (most) consumable items have become vastly more sophisticated than that.

The top 10% of earners in the US pay 75% of the tax revenue

It’s worth noting.... rich people DO NOT pay the vast majority of taxes collected. That’s a myth. The bottom 95% of people pay roughly 60% of all taxes collected. The top 1% only pay about 25% of taxes collected. Unless you’re erroneously assuming “all taxes” means “income taxes”. There’s a lot more types of taxes out

“You’re not rich once you’ve spent all your money on the stuff you want or think you need”.... no kidding!  That’s true for literally EVERYBODY.  Doesn’t matter if you make $10k a year or $10 million a year.

It’s just a dumb argument and demonstrates how ignorant we are of basic math. It’s percent of population, not total population that matters.

A lot to unpack here that’s wrong but let’s start with this.... You conveniently left out the statistic that for the 1.4 million taxpayers that make it into the top 1%, the average income isn’t 6 figures... it’s $1.7 million a year. You also left out the statistic that in 1973, the top 1% had roughly 8% of the total

I’m a big fan of, “Hey, maybe they’re right or maybe they’re not. Let’s try it and find out.” If we run out of other people’s money then.... Oopsies, our bad.

It won’t lead to one single less competitor because the current “competition” is for “which dealership can artificially inflate the price the least”. Once you’ve narrowed it down to make/model, you’re just really trying to figure out who rips you off less. That’s not competition - that’s being a chump and thanking

Sorry, I was there too.... but around Apple. They made a conscious decision to pull out of retailing because it just wasn’t profitable enough for them. I get lots of retailers thought it was different but it just wasn’t. Yes, larger retailers had dumped them prior, which is part of the reason it just flat out made

Yes, if you think you’ll pay MSRP for a new car you’re a moron. I think you might be confused about what “MSRP” means with cars. “Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price” is simply a suggested retail price that’s the cost the dealer pays to the manufacture + the cost of dealer markup, where the “cost of dealer mark up”

I can’t for the life of me get GM’s thinking. I mean, they use to appallingly shoddy interior materials you can’t help but think, “Ok, if this is what the seats (or dash or knobs or whatever) are made from, what shitty thing did they stick in an engine part I can’t see/touch and will it blow up under 30k miles?” It

I do you one better.... can you think of ANY Toyota ad? I can’t. They’re just so forgettable in every way.

Apple is a perfect example. Steve Jobs axed the resellers in the late 90's. Sure, there might have been a handful left, but mostly those were markets without any meaningful population (aka customers). And I’m sure there were a few business contracts just to costly to bother with. I’m sure franchises would continue in

Xfinity, but I never do the “per channel” cost. I just do the “how much am I paying to be entertained this month?” cost. Cable packages love to throw in tons of garbage to pad the lineup or they throw in stuff most people like but I don’t care about. For instance, I don’t give two happy shits about ANY sport at all.

Fun fact: the number one cause of workplace injury for recycling centers....? Glass. They HATE glass. The bigger the piece, the more likely someone gets hurt. Not only that, it costs them a fortune to recycle pretty much any glass. Basically of all the things we throw in a landfill that one could recycle, the one that
