He was asked to do the Sax on "Greased Lightning" from Grease, but he felt it was too on the nose.

The Melodica intro and bit in New Order's "Your Silent Face" has always been a favorite of mine for it's distinct sound. Great bass work (natch) and synth work in that song. Hell the guitar is great too. Okay, I fucking love that song.

The title track is just beautiful and full of Saxy sax solo.

Guy did the rocking sax solo on Tina Turner's "We Don't Need Another Hero" from Beyond the Thunderdome. I imagine he was greased up in the studio recording it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I am disappointed that "Midnight City" didn't usher in a new age of sax solos.

If you feel any better, I only realized the "joke" now after you mentioned it. What does a frog have to do with a kiss?….Oooooooohhhhhhhh. *slaps head.

Listening now, and it was "Faint" that I liked. They were never for me, but it did seem like they were different from Limp Bizkit and their ilk.

What a shame.

Just Googled: Yeah, that's some bad stuff right there. It looks like he apologized many years later in an interview with Questlove.

Sounds annoying. I'm lucky to live in Cleveland where the only tourists are Clevelanders who are taking Staycations and are convinced that our city s totally turning around and is cool now. (I kid, as there is a lot of cool stuff here.)

The cursory research I read is that Elvis Costello was complaining about how everybody seemed to be hopping on the ska bandwagon and nobody cared much for his sound at that time.

I don't know what you mean when you say "Blasted by a bunch of Duck Boats."

I don't think I know The Blue Nile. I'll have to queue Hats on Spotify. I've really grown to love OMD in the last few years. They still make great music. 2013's English Electric was surprisingly good (surprising in that it's OMD in the 21st Century but doesn't sound dated-to me anyways) An their latest single was just

I've been listening to a lot of OMD lately which in turn leads me to more 80's pop like ABC, Ultravox, Haircut 100, and Tears for Fears. I was delighted to find that the two guys from Tears for Fears were in an early New Wave/Mod Revival band called Graduate, which was very similar in sound to Madness and Elvis

I've been a fan of Steve Coogan since 24 Hour Party People. There's just something I find likable about him. Even when he is playing a pretentious theater teacher as in Hamlet 2, or a pretentious actor as he does in The Trip and its Sequel. I was always a bit disappointed that he never caught on here in the States.

The interminable Pod Race was pretty bad. So were the Asian Caricature Trade Federation.

Me too. it's just far enough away to keep me from planning a visit though. I would need to include it with something else.

*GJI Reads my comment and runs off in tears.

I mean, We all know "Great Job Internet" is supposed to be read with a sarcastic tone right?

First dumb, then funny, then dumb again.
