Wow, this is a great example of how you actually apologize and repair the damage you’ve done!
Genshin has 64 characters, and 59 are as pale as white bread, as you can see here:
The worst part is that “unplayable” is only a slight exaggeration here. Knocking enemies out of her own attack radius, cancels her ultimate if you press jump, horrible damage numbers... It’s all very yikes. Apparently this banner is selling pretty well, so I hope things slow down so Hoyo gets the message that this…
There’s a significant portion of the player base that likes to min/max and try out different builds and comps every Abyss cycle. (Those people also want the game to have more endgame content than the Abyss, but Hoyo has made it clear that they don’t feel the same way, as you said.) Regardless, that population keeps…
I really wish I could find a way to “skip” this part of Souls games, because when I manage to get over the hump I always fall in love. Bloodborne, Nioh, Elden Ring, Death’s Gambit... But most of the time I don’t get over the hump, and I spend 4 hours being frustrated before moving on. *sigh*
I know, right? I kind of felt bad writing it, but I'm just out here living my truth ™
I’ve never found a resource for other platforms, no. It's a shame because it's so useful for Switch games!
That’s interesting, because at least in the early 2000s I sensed very little discriminatory intent when people used the term in English discourse —though admittedly, I hung out mostly on console forums. Maybe things were different on the PC side where JRPGs weren’t the norm.
Actually, the YouTube channel SwitchUp has a series called All Patched Up where they go back to games after they’ve been patched to see if they’ve improved!
The animations give a Persona vibe, IMO.
Can’t say I'm particularly interested after seeing how simple the combat is. Turn based with only two options for each character until you have enough energy for their burst... Seems like each battle won't be very interesting.
Someone mentioned that the gacha in HSR seems even less onerous than in Genshin, which is certainly an attractive proposition.
It’s not a "gotcha" when a developer gives a predictable answer, or fails to give a real answer.
I mean yeah it didn't offer any extra control, but it did mean you could automate the silly and obvious micro-decisions and focus more on the macro stuff. I appreciated it deeply for that reason.
Man, the end of this review hit hard
Good. I hope they pick a good replacement since he's my main, but even if they don't it's preferable to sticking with this guy
I’m a sucker for the teenage Justice League, so I'll be watching this. Is that Jessica Cruz?
I think the main problem with the 3D transition was the color saturation and default animations. For whatever reason, they made the colors of many pokemon really dull, and some had default animations/poses that lost tons of personality compared to their sprites.
I actually think Gen 5 holds up really well in retrospect. There are some great designs that stand up against any other gen, like Excadrill, Chandelure, Garbodor... And even some of the really mid Pokemon feel like they’d fit into Gen 1 or 2 really nicely. Zebstrika and Galvantula come to mind.
