I’ll push back on that a little. OW actually has a decent amount of ethnic diversity. 13 heroes of color (out of 32) including some less represented groups like indigenous Australians, Nigerians, and Haitians. And they do a decent amount of research for those characters, making them pretty authentic in multiple ways.

Paladins added in-game ads a while back, and it hasn’t really bothered people. They’re totally optional, just watch a video ad and get some extra currency or something like that. (Like a lot of mobile games. ) It’s very unobtrusive and doesn't bother people who don't want ads—hopefully these are similar.

The real lesson is to find a thing that is nascent enough and perceived to be uncertain and risky enough as to offer you outsized rewards for a modicum of professionalism”

This, so much this. Some people take a lot longer to "git gud," to learn the timing or patterns or improve their reflexes. Speeding up the curve for them means they ultimately have an experience *closer* to the people advocating against an easy mode.

It’s okay for it to become a bit of a different game. It’s still an amazing game, even if you reduce the challenge. You can still benefit from the world exploration, the attention to detail, and general coolness of the game.

Eh. As someone who didn’t enjoy ER until I did that early game rune farm that immediately bumped me from level 15 to level 40, and who farms runes any time I feel particularly frustrated... I think an easy mode wouldn’t hurt that game at all. And I’m already playing a magic/dex build (meaning I’m leaning heavily into

I’m not really interested in this game, but it makes me really happy to see Ari so into it haha

Yeah, Activision was sort of my red flag. Before that, I was kind of bummed about Bethesda or Double Fine leaving PlayStation, but I wasn’t *super* concerned. But when MS snaps up the sixth biggest publisher in the world? It feels like all bets are off.

I don’t know about all that. Molyneux made promises that were *never* fulfilled. For all of his failures when NMS launched, Sean Murray and Co have gotten really close to what was promised. (And in some respects it’s arguably better than what was promised.)

Time for Phase 2 of the Kingdom Hearts Cinematic Universe!

I think it’s entirely possible that it’s a feature *and* a bug. Like, they wanted her to mount dire wolves, but messed up the AI, or maybe left an artifact of an earlier incarnation where she behaved differently.

It’s so funny how people think NFTs are the future of... anything. I think various implementations of blockchain will eventually become really prevalent/important, but NFTs are probably the silliest implementation of that technology.

California has fucked this up so badly, between the lawyers with conflicts of interest, then airing their conflict with the federal government, and now this... I feel like the chance of a greater reckoning for AB is slim to none now, and so much of that is from CA's mismanagement

I mean

God, these games really make the Switch show its age.

My concern is MS and Sony’s impending arms-race to buy third-party developers. How many third parties will be around in five or ten years?

You shut your mouth, Bugsnax is AMAZING!

That’s almost worse lol. “Stop playing, that’s how the quest progresses.” 🤣

I didn’t know that resting triggered NPCs until someone told me. I thought it was time of day or something else that I hadn’t thought about. There’s literally no way to tell that resting is what makes the NPC appear, or any indication that that’s a universal mechanic.

I can't get the link because I'm at work, but search for "full screenshot of r/place 2022" and you'll find the relevant Reddit thread 😃
