this is my biggest problem! It seems like they’re taking themselves entirely seriously and don’t seem to realize how dumb everything sounds, instead of leaning into the absurdity

The worst part is that a decent demo could have easily made up for such an abysmal trailer. SE must be mad lol
Yeah that’s the vibe I got, but I think saying it isn’t GaaS kind of bit them in the butt, because like you said they were saddled with all the expectations anyway.
Yeah, that’s a possibility, and that would certainly feel better.
I’ve never been able to get into PC gaming. I even got a mid-range gaming laptop a few years ago, but I’ve barely made use of the gaming part. Between configuration problems and poor ergonomics at my desk, I just gave up the whole enterprise lol.
There’s no reason that Arkane can’t make a co-op shooter that has elements of an immersive sim. I’m not saying that’s necessarily the case, but I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt before I write it off entirely as “just another co-op shooter.”
You’d think at least one of these assholes would own it. Like, drop the, “I love my LGBTQ fans” bit and be straightforward: you don’t think their civil and human rights are as important as your free market, or your low taxes, or your family values. Their money and praise is just fine, but everything else about them is…
also: the one line the black guy had sounded... like barret. 😑
This quote is so telling:
I was pretty excited when the leak came out a few days ago, but that’s basically all been drained lol.
It’s funny because EA just announced a way for you to upgrade the disc version of Jedi Fallen Order to the digital version on next gen. It seems like it involves a human actually verifying that you have a copy or something, though, which is... surprisingly labor intensive. (Not surprised that it takes a real person,…
I hope there’s a little about Outriders, if only to help us understand exactly WTF it’s supposed to be if it’s not a GaaS
“Mom can we have an MCU game?”
Yeah, I’m really not sure where they’re drawing the distinction between GaaS and... whatever Outriders is. Hopefully they’ll talk about expansions or something in the SE E3 show so we can get a better sense of what they want the game to be.
I mean, we don’t know anything about it. I have enough a lot of faith that Arkane can make an interesting take on the genre, especially since they’re leaning into over the top stuff.
If there’s anything that gets me to buy an Xbox, I guess it’s Arkane *sigh*
Microsoft saw everyone talking about Sony having all the exclusives and said “bet” lol
It’s already a very good experience IMO. The campaign is really fun (especially in co-op) and the guns feel great. It has some balance issues, but they don’t really crop up until the end game. And it seems like they've fixed the stability/server issues.
In related news, the latest balance patch has me pretty hopeful. Unlike the last one which basically just nerfed trickster, this patch buffs EVERYONE—each individual class, as well as global buffs like armor. And they said they’re addressing drop rate and timed expeditions longer term.
I wonder how they’re going to say it’s “not political” this time
