um

I think I’ve made the same comment on an earlier article, but I’m surprised that so few games have even attempted to clone BotW. I imagine it’s partially because it must take tons of resources to create a world so large and rich with discovery, but you’d think at least a few devs would have tried.

Yeah, this is one of the reasons I love Hades. Even though you need to unlock new abilities and weapons over the course of the game, you still get to feel like a badass from the very beginning. (Obviously it’s far from a direct comparison with Avengers, though)

fuck this, give us thracia 776 so the whole world can feel the pain

It’s basically the same as music: developers can cut off streamers whenever they want to.

Wow. This... seems like a great way to push streamers towards Facebook Gaming, given how they’ve apparently licensed wide swaths of songs so streamers don’t even have to worry about this kind of stuff.

Now playing

While we’re discussing FF composers who live up to (or exceed...) Uematsu, I’mma drop some Masashi Hamauzu:

I played for about 10 minutes, and I enjoyed it more than Mario 35!

God, Picross is so good. I got the first one on the DS when I was 17 and it took over my life. I was a teacher’s assistant and I definitely spent more time playing picross than grading lol.

I get what they were going for; if you regularly play with different groups of people, it’s nice to be able to quickly recreate those groups and go back and forth between chat and party. But this is the worst way to do that lol

So wait, you can’t just create a party and join/leave on demand? That’s so silly!

For those of you who’ve listened to My Brother, My Brother and Me recently...

Oh wow, your library has video games? My county’s library system is pretty extensive but I don’t think I’ve ever seen console games!

Yeah, I agree. At least in this case people got a pretty great single player campaign until the rest of the game comes up to snuff. (I don't think the single player campaign was quite worth 60, but I think it was still very fun!)

I suspect that this wasn’t intended to be a service game originally. and that might be why the post game is so bleh. It’s just kind of odd that they put so much effort and heart into the campaign, which is geared so much for single player (unlike most other service games); if it was supposed to be service from the

No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Even though most service games are mediocre/unfinished/etc at launch, tons of people enjoy the format, especially when the games grow into their own. (Format isn’t quite the right word, but genre doesn’t seem appropriate either.)

I think it’s fairly standard for a studio’s first outing. Destiny and the Division had mediocre (at best) end game content at launch, though I think both had more satisfying loot systems. (And obviously Anthem remains quite bad.) Destiny 2 and Division 2 were much better in that regard, though it wasn’t until later

Activities and hints sound really cool, but historically developers haven’t really latched onto OS-level features like that. (Eg, the feed or events or communities on the PS4.) Granted, these are somewhat more game-related, but I’m still skeptical that it’ll see broad adoption.

We use so many of these. It’s half the reason we order out at this point lol

lol
