Finishing Christmas shopping early is a great feeling. The last of of the stuff we ordered online showed up this week. Now all that is left to do is wrap it. Then we'll just have to solve the problem of squeezing 2 people, a dog, luggage, and presents into Nissan Juke for a 6 hour drive, back to MI for the holidays.

It is because everyone's mother used boiling them as a cooking method, which resulted in mushy gross-ness. Roasting or pan frying, in lots of fat, is the correct method of applying heat. So good.

A Crockpot full of beef stew simmered all day yesterday. Pretty good, but I'm guessing the leftovers today are going to be even better. Great comfort food for this barely above zero weather.

Vacation starts a week from today! I get to go back to the U.P. and see all of my family for a week and a half! Look out niece and nephews, we've got some sledding to do!
