That’s kind of like saying “If the Chevy Cruze didn’t make it, I don’t think the Equinox will either” You need to compare apples to apples. for example a Volt compared to a Prius Prime.

I’m with you 100%. The infrastructure for fast charging comparable to refilling your gas tank just isn’t out there. EV’s are best for shorter commutes, while ICE are still ideal for long hauls due to the low stoppage time to refill.
Absolutist bullshit sounds great when you’re a populist shill on the campaign trail, but it’s literally the reason we have the phrase “perfect is the enemy of the good”
Sure thing. I’m all about renewables—I work in the renewables industry.
In my biased opinion and my use case, a PHEV with enough range for daily commute plus errands and then a gas tank and ICE capable of long highway drives at high efficiency is the best car out there right now.
So Bloomberg wants to make the entire transportation sector battery operated, but also wants to cut emissions from the power sector.
I have owned 50 cars in my 54 years and by far the X19 Fiat was the worst! What a pile of shit. Adjusting those points up against the firewall. A Fiero is a masterpiece compared to the Fiat.
Also, the fact that they’ve all been turned into Ferraris, Lamborghinis and other less noble automotive characters.
It’s a great car! I have a long history of Fieros.
I know it’s off topic but I really really really want a Grom! The need is real!
The only reason their adding the diesel option is so they can try to get 30 mpg claim, like with the silverado. Just watch, it will be in every commercial.
Not bashing it at all, just saying that there is another off-road crowd that prefers gas. Low rpm torque with a diesel is preferred for some types of off-roading, but it’s not for others.
What are you basing that on? People love diesels for off-road, due to the low RPM torque. Thats why the Cummins 4bt and 6bt are popular for 4wd engine swaps.
I posted an example of why some people prefer the gas over the diesel version, where horsepower and throttle response is ideal over low end torque, so its true in other cases.
I love the TSB on that one. "Thermal event" yeah burning up your particulate filter and shooting fire out the tail pipes is a Thermal Event.
A real overlander would take all of the Z-71 specific parts and replace them with whatever aftermarket parts that suits their “tougher, rougher” build anyway. If they wanted the diesel, they can still get one in a base model and upfit from there.
I can tell you the wheel placement isn't the only thing that looks odd. THAT GRILLE! Just look at it!
That is fantastic news. 3 liter 6 diesels really seem to be an awesome sweet spot with current technology for torque, good enough horsepower and efficiency in the most common car class in the U.S.. Trucks and SUVs, especially in that ‘half ton’ size.
Because that would turn a $5,000 trailer into a $50,000 trailer while also halving the payload it could carry.
Diesel* Electric. That first part is key. Also, fixed routes make it very easy to have the needed fuel (Diesel) available along pre-planned stops.
