I live in New York, own a nice 4 bedroom house in Brooklyn that i bought 6 years ago. I make 150,000 my wife makes 165,000. We live a very comfortable life so... I'm not sure what crawled up your ass and died but PLENTY of new yorkers would be Thrilled with a 150,000 a year job. Am I RICH? nope... But I'm more than

I have both thanks. Neither have anything to do with this topic.

“Understand what you are talking about before you comment.”

You really should start getting your information from a more reliable source than Facebook memes.

REALLY now??! Amazon was going to create 25,000 jobs in New York paying an average of $150k? Let me smoke some of what you’ve got. Fucking hell...

Yikes. Actually being from Amazon’s home turf and working low on the totem pole at one point they pay well and do treat their employees fairly well. Not every division is awesome but overall it's not a bad place to work. But they pay well if you're not trying to just be an Amazon Flex worker or a warehouse

I see the author makes the mistake many ideologues do, mistaking their own personal opinion for the opinion of their fellow citizens. Glad to see the comment section is parroting these rather silly talking points. Seriously, you dont need an economics degree to know 1,500 is smaller than 25,000...

Just stop with your BS. I commuted into NYC on NJ Transit from Princeton Junction to Penn Station for years making a lot less at the time. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

I lived in NYC on 80k for a long time and I was just fine.  Unless by NYC you mean Manhatten, which isn't a reasonable place to live.

You’re confusing distribution centers with HQ locations.

It was an HQ, not a distribution center.  The jobs would have been high paying.

I worked at an Amazon fulfillment center for a few years, the work conditions are fine, have you ever worked there? Plus the pay is higher than most low skilled labor jobs. It got me through college, it isn’t meant to be a career.

And let’s not forget the loss of a massive bump in local property values in Queens... If I owned property there I would be campaigning hard for whoever runs against aoc

Not to mention the $5B they said they would invest locally. I wonder where that money is going now?

Everything I’d read said that the vast majority of these were newly created, not redistributed.

These were 25,000 jobs paying an average of $150k. Understand what you are talking about before you comment.

Take a hint that it’s not wanted? That 2nd HQ had nearly 70% support in NYC including majority support across all demographic groups. And even higher percentage support of those in Queens  Stop trying to compare 1500 jobs coming as some sort of caving by Amazon. That’s 6% of the 25k jobs that would have been created.

It’s aimed at people who can afford a $30,000 motorcycle.

Lotus literally launched a 2 million dollar EV yesterday.

It exists, but it took a while to recover from this.
