Maybe the writers of most of those films should get a tiny bit of credit and mention if we’re talking about “his” world.

Honestly, I hated Armageddon when it came out but it’s really increased in my estimation when I’ve revisited it. The movie’s fucking insane and incredibly poorly written but goddamn is it entertaining.
Thanks for making this comment because I was about to come in here and start a scene. Also what is with the major Kevin Feige dick riding in the summary “...represent the mindless junk that existed before Kevin Feige started actually caring a bit about story.” do they not think movies had stories before marvel movies
“Any time anyone complains that today’s blockbusters are soulless, samey, hollow effects movies, force them to sit through the unholy trinity of Twister, Mission: Impossible, and Independence Day.”
It’s interesting if you watch some of the interviews that came out of Justice League. Cavill, despite the horrendous mustache CGI, is basically the only cast member who went out of his way to praise anything about the Whedon version of the movie, and that was specifically to call out that he preferred to play Superman…
Its hard to read this as anything but a soft repudiation of Zack Snyder’s view of Superman. It feels like we’re finally getting a virtuous, boy scout Superman movie and I’m here for it.

I know what all those words mean and I’d still have to google how to do it. That’s just not realistic for most people.
I used to freelance edit for a site (not io9) that starting moving to slideshows while they were one of my clients. I hated them. Every staff editor I knew hated them. The writers hated them. The only people who liked them were the ones whose job it was to care about page impressions uber alles. Guess whose opinion…
I think I probably had an N64 site too but I just don’t remember. I know I had a GeoCities site - and an Angelfire site. I may have had something about sci-fi and fantasy books too? Man I just can’t remember. Is there an archive anywhere? Not that I remember my site names..
There is no putting the genie back in the bottle. That was a more simple and innocent time. Now we live in essentially Cyberpunk 2077 and are subjected to capitalism at every turn.
Here’s the list, so you don’t have to watch the video because videos suck. This could’ve been a slideshow, but those suck too.
Ragnarok is bit uneven, but very enjoyable! Compelling mystery, environmental concerns, (godly) teen angst. What more could you ask for!?
If we’re counting the UK as “international” for American readers (which, let’s be honest, it both is and isn’t at the same time), I highly recommend Humans. It’s SO good, and Gemma Chan does SUCH a great job! If you like robots and the philosophy of consciousness, definitely check it out.
DARK is the best show across all streaming services right now.
I’ll also add “3%”, which I think is from Brazil? Good series.
A couple others I enjoyed:
I'm loving this show. It's still about fifty times better than the movies it's based on. Unlike them, it's actually smart. Sure, it's a silly premise, but the attention to detail was marvelous; the portrayal of the Minotaur myth was pretty authentic, right down to the proper translation of the Greek word for "virgin,"…
You're right, this show does need some character development, and I think this was Baird's turn. She spent the first bit being all military on the Librarians, and by the end realized that won't work and that instead of trying to boss them around as a superior officer (which, to be fair, is her experience) she needs…
