I yawn too. My trick is to constantly force myself to yawn before I start to feel any pressure building. If you stay ahead of it, you’ll never have to feel any of the pain.
Chewing gum works pretty good. Only problem is getting it out of your ears afterwards.
Personally I find yawning to be effective and easy. I found this out accidentally, however I have used this method since on multiple flights and it hasn’t really “failed” me, only been less effective once.
